Riley is currently being cared for by The Ark, Inc. in Huntsville, Alabama.
Riley has been at The Ark two times now. He was adopted when he was a pup and brought back because his new owner was leaving the USA. The Ark adopted him to a new family and he got out of their fence. He wishes he had not done that because he got in lots of trouble. He was injured and it took The Ark five weeks to find him. He has broken bones in his hips that cannot be operated on. He is in no pain and his limp is getting better every day just like his Dr. Michael Newman said they would. He is very loving and gentle and would love to have a wonderful home. Riley weights about 50 lbs. and is a beautiful golden mix.
Ark Rescue dogs are available for adoption to homes in the Alabama and Tennessee Valley area only. Fenced yards are required. For more info on Riley, click here!

Mum and I are off to a trial this weekend. Very exciting. So, we'll be a little late in posting the pup in need for Saturday and Sunday.
Thanks for your patience! Have a great weekend. And if you get a chance, go to your local shelter and take a doggie for a walk! They would love you for it.
Queenie is a beautiful wirehaired terrier mix, currently staying with the Burlington County Animal Alliance in Mt. Holly, New Jersey.
She is shaved for the summer months but will have long wiry hair when it grows in. She is very agile and loves to play ball. She will need someone who is willing to exercise her to burn off some of her energy. She is good with children. She probably would do best as the only dog in the home since she is a Queen. She is about 3 years old.
Burlington County Animal Alliance is a private, independent, 501(3)(c) nonprofit animal advocacy group, that was founded in 1999 by Lorraine Schrieber and Barb Giano who have a love for animals. The focus primarily on rescue and adoption of shelter dogs and cats from the Burlington County Animal Shelter Center and surrounding areas in New Jersey.
Their main focus is to make the public aware of the numbers of homeless dogs and cats there are in shelters and to promote adoption of these animals. They advocate spaying and neutering of all companion animals to counteract the overpopulation of dogs and cats and to end the tragedy of euthanizing healthy, unwanted companion pets.

Is he cute or what?
Bosco is a sweet boy who has lots of energy and loves belly rubs! He likes just about everybody but will need a home without small children, 'cause he's got so much energy that he may knock them down without meaning too!
He's just about 1 year young and ready to go have some fun!! Bosco will need a fenced yard and basic obedience training, and would would also benefit from daily long walks or even runs once he gets the obedience thing down!
Bosco is currently being cared for by the Southside Animal Shelter in Indianapolis. That's the shelter where I came from! They are a non-profit, no-kill, 501(c)(3) organization that rescues dogs and cats from all over central Indiana. They are great folks and took real good care of me until my Mum found me. And they have been great supporters of mine ever since!

Leo is currently staying at Pet Network Animal Friends in Incline Village, Nevada.
He is a friendly boy with lots of energy. He could use some training. He would like an energetic owner to go on hikes or long walks with, or a lot of fenced land. He's good with people, but should not be with small children due to his size.
Two-year-old Leo, one of their adoptable pets, is a German shepherd/lab mix - a good boy who needs a good home. Click here for more info about Leo.
As many of you have heard on the news the residents of south Lake Tahoe are experiencing a nightmare. Fires are raging out of control and residents are fleeing the area. The folks at the Pet Network are taking on a lot to help the family pets who are being affected by the fires.
A non-profit animal rescue and adoption organization, Pet Network Animal Friends, is providing immediate relief efforts for displaced pets from victims of the fire in Meyers, California near South Lake Tahoe.
Pet Network has collected and transported vital pet food and supplies to the disaster area, along with crates for securing pets. Their staff and volunteers will be transporting dogs and cats from the overcrowded disaster area facilities to our shelter in Incline Village for safe temporary boarding until owners can resettle and secure their pets.
Individuals wishing to volunteer services such as transportation or foster care of animals or those who have supplies to donate should contact them at (775) 832-4404 or visit their website. They are especially in need of dry and wet dog and cat food, cat litter, blankets and bedding.

One of our best blogging buddies, Gomer and Opie at Dog's Aye View, are celebrating their blogging anniversary and 10,000th blog visitor by giving back to the people who helped rescue them. Wow, what a great idea!
And we are writing about it here so you can participate!
- For every visitor to their blog over the next 10 days (from Tuesday, June 26 till Friday, July 6), their dogmom is going to donate 10 cents to Friends For Life Animal Sanctuary, where she adopted Gomer and Opie!
- But wait, there's more! She's going to donate another 10 cents for everyone that posts a comment to their blog ... about anything ... to Southwest Metro Animal Rescue, located in Chaska where they live, since they have the same no-kill philosophy about domesticated animals.
- But wait, there's more! If you tell them in your comment that you also clicked the purple button (upper left side of their blog, under our picture - or this link The Animal Rescue Site) on their blog to help feed shelter animals - then she's going to donate another 10 cents to each of these fine organizations -- Friends For Life, SWMAR and The Animal Rescue Site.
- And, if you post a blurb and a link on your blog that tells everybody and links back to them - then she's going to donate a whole dollar to the animal rescue group of your choice if you email her the information.
Thanks Dogs' Aye View - we salute you for this fabulous undertaking.
Scruffy was born March 2 of this year and is a great little energetic, typical Schnauzer pup, that a breeder could not sell.
Scruffy is now being cared for by the Happy Tails Animal Sanctuary in Columbia, Missouri. (HTAS) is a private, non-profit, tax-exempt, no-kill, animal welfare corporation made up entirely by volunteers.
He is neutered, going through puppy vaccinations, and has been micro chipped.
Scruffy is a wonderful little guys, full of vim and vigor, fine with other dogs, very interested in annoying the cats, and would be great with older children.

Koda Bear is a 10 month old puppy.
He is a Pit Bull Terrier and Labrador mix, with a beautiful milk chocolate color, white chest and and light eyes. He is neutered and current on all his shots; he will be a large dog (55-60 lbs).
Koda is a very smart boy, he already knows sit and shake and is crate trained. He is eager to please but can be a bit stubborn. He needs to go to an owner that has experience with a headstrong breed and is willing to use only gentle, positive reinforcement training to help him reach all of his potential. He gets along with other dogs and cats; and needs an active family, a fenced yard for exercise and lots of love and attention.
Koda is currently being cared for by Northwest Animal Companion in Boise, Idaho. If you think you can offer this boy the loving home he needs, click here!
Northwest Animal Companion Inc.'s mission is to establish a permanent animal sanctuary to promote compasion, respect and responsibility toward all companion animals, through education, spaying and neutering, advocacy and adoptions.

Pepito just arrived from a shelter in New Orleans. He is currently staying with the H.O.P.E. Safehouse in Racine, Wisconsin.
He is very friendly and loves everyone he meets. When you talk to him in a high voice his whole butt starts wiggling! Pepito is an adult and just the cutest little thing!
H.O.P.E. (Help for Orphaned Pets through Education) is a non-profit, all volunteer animal care organization, a ‘safehouse’ dedicated to the care and re-socialization of lost, injured, neglected, and abandoned pets. Through education and example, they extend the qualities of safety, shelter and compassion to all animals under their care, in our homes, on the streets and in the wild.
All dogs are kept in foster homes and are not at a shelter. If you are interested in meeting this dog you must first fill out an application, you can access one on www.hopesafehouse.org. Obedience classes are paid for by Hope Safehouse and are a mandatory part of the adoption package.

As a companion site to our blog, we made a new Squidoo lens for Rescue Me!
It features mine and Gracie's rescue tails, great sources of information on adopting and rescuing pups in need, tear jerking videos of the life of dogs in shelters and foster homes, and ideas on how you can help, too!
Check it out!
Taffy is a very playful, loving and cuddly brown, tan and white 5 to 7 year old Jack Russell Terrier weighing 20 lbs.
She is very good with small children, loves to play tug-of-war and will be a great companion to anyone wanting a sweet, affectionate dog.
Taffy likes to - give kisses - a LOT! She is housebroken, loves chasing her ball, and is truly a lap dog. She is good on a leash and likes to take walks and loves going for a ride in the car!
She tolerates other family dogs, but she would prefer to have all the attention! She may not be suited for a household with cats.
Taffy is currently being cared for by the Furkids Animal Rescue in Atlanta, Georgia. Furkids mission is to a) provide a cage-free, no-kill shelter for our rescued animals where they can experience the best care in a loving environment until they are adopted; b) find permanent, loving, homes for our rescued animals; c) inform the public about pet overpopulation, promote sterilization and provide information for low-cost, high-quality spay/neuter organizations.

The first one did it's job and got us noticed. We were featured by a couple of blogs and got lots of traffic over the past few days, so we thought we'd do it again. We're always looking for ways to help these pups find their forever homes! And earn more profits - so that 10% we donate can grow and grow to help the rescue pups.
We were told about this one from Barrett Laurie, fellow dog lover, at Huma~B. Thanks for letting us know!

Do I Go Home Today?
by Sandi Thompson
My family brought me home
cradled in their arms.
hey cuddled me and smiled at me,
and said I was full of charm.
They played with me and laughed with me,
they showered me with toys.
I sure do love my family
especially the girls and boys.
The children loved to feed me,
they gave me special treats.
They even let me sleep with them --
all snuggled in the sheets.
I used to go for walks,
often several times a day.
They even fought to hold my leash,
I'm very proud to say.
These are things I'll never forget --
a cherished memory.
I now live in a shelter --
without my family.
They used to laugh and praise me
when I played with that old shoe.
But I didn't know the difference
between the old ones and the new.
The kids and I would grab a rag
for hours we would tug.
So I thought I did the right thing
when I chewed the bathroom rug.
They said that I was out of control,
and would have to live outside.
This I did not understand
although I tried and tried.
The walks stopped, one by one;
they said they hadn't time.
I wish that I could change things,
I wish I knew my crime.
My life became so lonely,
in the back yard on a chain.
I barked and barked all day long
to keep from going insane.
o they brought me to the shelter
but were embarrasesd to say why.
They said I caused an allergy,
and then, kissed me good-bye.
If I'd only had some classes,
as a little pup
I wouldn't have been so hard to handle
when I was all grown up.
"You only have one day left,"
I heard the worker say.
Does this mean a second chance?
Do I go home today?
Now there's a face anyone would love!
Marty is currently being cared for by the North Okaloosa Humane Society in Crestview, Florida. He was born sometime around March 2006.
They say he is the kennel clown, if you can't tell by that grin. He gets along well with other dogs and loves to play. He is looking for a forever home where he can be inside and be loved like a member of the family. He promises not to disappoint you!
The North Okaloosa Humane Society is a 501(C)(3) non-profit organization formed in December of 2001. They began as a group of area residents concerned about local animal overpopulation and needless euthanasia. All the money they raise is used for animal care and treatment.
Marty is listed on Petfinder, or you can visit the N.O.A.H website for more information.

While we were visiting the website of the Calvert Animal Welfare League in Prince Frederick, Maryland we met up with Pete.
Pete has had a rough life and is looking for a stable home of his own with someone to care for him while he enjoys his retirement. He is a German Shepherd mix that spent approximately eight years living his life on a chain.
But his personality is charming, as his caretakers have been told by his fan club. Everyone interested in adopting him owns other pets. Unfortunately, living so many years of his life on a chain, he's not fond of other animals.
Pete is, however, easy going, enjoys lounging around, and walks really well on a leash. He will require a fully fenced yard and a commitment from his new family to follow a few simple rules. He is looking to move into a place he could call his own, "Pete's Place", and share all of his love with you!
If you have room in your home with children over the age of 14, no other animals and no plans to get any other animals, maybe you could consider welcoming Pete into your home.
Pete is currently being cared for by the folks at the Calvert Animal Welfare League, an all volunteer, non-profit, no-kill rescue group. To learn more about Pete visit CAWL for more information!
I am the bridge ~ Diane Morgan
Between what was and what can be.
I am the pathway to a new life
I am made of mush,
Because my heart melted when I saw you, Matted and sore, limping, depressed, Lonely, unwanted, afraid to love.
For one little time you are mine.
I will feed you with my own hand
I will love you with my whole heart.
I will make you whole.
I am made of steel.
Because when the time comes,
When you are well, and sleek
When your eyes shine
And your tail wags with joy
Then comes the hard part.
I will let you go – not without a tear,
But without a regret.
For you are safe forever – A new dog needs me now.
I am the bridge
~ Diane Morgan

Bingo is a Terrier mix and is being cared for by RESCUE (Reducing Euthanasia at Shelters through Commitment and Underlying Education) in Phoenix, Arizona.
There was a dog who had no home and Bingo was his name "O", B-I-N-G-O, B-I-N-G-O, B-I-N-G-O and home with you, he'll go! What a cutie! He looks like the typical Disney dog in a 50 pound package. Bingo is quickly making some fans out there amongst the RESCUE volunteers!
He is very lovable and full of personality. Bingo has had a "ruff" go of things and appears to have been mistreated in the past. He is hand shy and somewhat timid and hesitant initially, but the shelter volunteers are sure that he will gain much more confidence the more he is exposed to positive experiences.
At this time, we would not recommend young children in the household. Bingo needs a patient family who will understand his fears, but yet help him move beyond them towards a happy future. Once Bingo feels safe with you, he lets his silly side show and will bounce around doing little play bows.
He tends to be lacking social etiquette at times with other dogs, and thinks that everyone wants to play as rough as he does! He can be a little pushy in play, often putting a paw on the back, or a lick in the face to try and initiate play, so another patient dog would be a wonderful match for him. Bingo doesn't seem to mean any harm, and does want to play, but his social skills might need a little polishing.
Bingo is about four years old, out of that puppy stage, playful and active. Shy and hesitant initially, he will need some time to know he's safe and loved.
For more information on Bingo contact Rescue in Phoenix, Arizona.

What a handsome border collie boy!
Nick is located in Crestview, Florida at Panhandle Animal Lovers.
Nick is two and a half years old. He is housetrained, great with children, and loves to play! Like my sister Gracie, he is a sprinkler attacker. Turn the sprinkler on and he will play for hours, of course he will get a good bath too.
Nick does enjoy swimming in the ponds from time to time when the sprinklers are not running. This boy has been neutered, vaccinated, and he is all ready for his forever home. Please be aware that this is a breed that needs occasional grooming. Nick's adoption fee is $200.00.
Panhandle Animal Lovers are a group of friends who formed to help homeless pets find their forever homes. They are currently a foster home program only. All their pets are homed with volunteers.
They have received their non-profit status and would love any donations that you are willing to give. Their pets are all spayed and neutered, given the proper vaccines, and have been seen by a veternarian.
For more information visit Panhandle Animal Lovers!

Belinda is a super-sweet young pup who captured the hearts of the folks at New Leash on Life in Chicago, a no-kill shelter, with her odd looks and even temperament. When NLOL intake reps were strolling the rows at Animal Care and Control, Belinda stuck close to the front of her cage in hopes that we would pick up on her quiet wiggling and it worked! Little Miss Clown Face has shown herself to be personality plus!
The folks at NLOL really have no idea about Belinda's breed mix! Regardless of her murky breed identity, Belinda has a personality that's to die for. She loves to meet everyone and thinks the world revolves around her! Some obedience training is definitely going to be in this pup's future, as she's energetic and not always sure how to direct that energy, but like most dogs we're sure that Belinda will face training with the same excitement with which she greets everything else she encounters.
Belinda would love to find a home where she can settle in and take the world by storm. This sweet girl is a good cuddler and likes to go for car rides. Our adoption counselors cat-tested Miss B, and she couldn't have cared less about her feline friend. Based on her exuberance, we think she'd be a good companion for older kids. Her compact size makes her a perfect city dog!
Belinda is about 7-8 months old and is medium in size. She is good with other dog and cats.
Contact NLOL to meet or adopt Belinda today.

Hi, I'm Ezra! I have the honor of being the first pup featured on Rescue Me!
I was rescued by a nice woman in Indianapolis, who squeezed my big self into a Mini Cooper so I wouldn't get hit at a busy intersection. She saved my life!
I'm housebroken, crate trained, neutered, and up-to-date on all my shots. I get along with other dogs, not sure about cats. I am a big doofus who is gentle and generally well-mannered, despite being a big boy.
Weighing in at 75 lbs, I'm about 1-2 years old, love to ride in the car, and could play with balls (even by myself) for hours!
To find out more about me, please contact the nice people at ARPO and fill out a pre-qualification form. You'll be glad you did!
Welcome to our new blog!
I am Johann - JohannTheDog. See that's me on the left with my brother - this was the photo Mum found on Petfinder.com! In 2004, I was rescued from a no-kill animal shelter in Indianapolis and taken to my forever home! And dog, it's the best home ever!
Because I am so fortunate - I want to help other dogs find their forever homes. So we started this blog, to showcase all the great pups out there that need help. These pups are from all over the country, in shelters and foster homes - just waiting for you to come and rescue them.
Check back often - because we will be featuring a dog in need - every day!
