Meet Mickee!

Mickee is a gorgeous, sweet, super friendly six-year-old, Border Collie with ABCA papers. Mickee has an incredible spirit and a contagious enthusiasm to play. He is so full of life and outgoing, that everyone who meets him is drawn to say hello. He absolutely loves people and would be a marvelous family dog because he also adores kids. Mickee is a real play dog, happy to chase after any toy but he is crazy for his jolly balls and entertains himself endlessly.

Mickee enjoys swimming and exploring in the woods. Mickee enjoys the fun of being with other dogs. He is not good with cats. Mickee weighs about 50 pounds. Mickee recently had a disc problem which impacted control of his back leg.

He uses all his legs beautifully but handles his running and walking without much reliance on the back right leg. He can fit into an active home life or a calmer one where playing with toys is an outlet for his energy. Like any active Border Collie, Mickee carries on, undeterred by any worry in the world. He loves life and is a joy to be around.

We found Mickee through Pets With Disabilities. They are a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting the adoption of dogs and cats with disabilities. The organization serves as a shelter and an adoption placement aid for animals that have been injured through trauma or disabled by illness.

Meet Angel!

Angel is a six-month-old Border Collie. Angel is incredibly sweet and loves to be next to her person. She also loves to race and chase with other Border Collies and is learning that the farm is a blast. Angel is toy oriented and fast on her feet. She is also deaf so will require special training but already has basic obedience commands. She is very relationship oriented and will be a great learner.

Angel weighs 26 pounds and is good with cats. She was a present to an elderly woman who realized she could not care for Angel properly. Angel is being fostered in Vermont where she will start learning hand signals.

Meet Samantha!

Samantha is a 20-pound, little ball of energy, possibly a terrier/border collie or Pomeranian mix. She is a quick and very intelligent young pup. She has a slight neurological issue on the left side of her face, which makes her even cuter. Samantha gets along great with all the dogs.

Samantha needs a strong and creative handler. We think she would make a great agility dog. She is very toy driven. She will definitely provide lots of joy and excitement to some lucky person. She is current on shots and spayed. Samantha was relinquished by her owners at a local shelter.

We met Samantha through Pets With Disabilities. They are a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting the adoption of dogs and cats with disabilities. The organization serves as a shelter and an adoption placement aid for animals that have been injured through trauma or disabled by illness.

Pets with Disabilities provides invaluable support and resources for the families of disabled pets and for shelters attempting to place special-needs animals into loving homes. For the animals it helps place, Pets With Disabilities is a bridge to a better life; for the few that it cannot place, Pets With Disabilities is a lifelong home.

Meet Miss Daisy!

Beautiful Miss Daisy is 10 years old. Her previous owners were elderly and found their two dogs were just 'more than they could care for &/or afford'. Their other dog found a home first, so they gave that family the pen that Daisy & her sibling had lived in all of their lives.

They were taking Daisy in to the animal shelter on 2/16 to put her down, after all, who wanted a ten year old blind dog?? She is a very trusting 90lb yellow lab. She is great with kids, dogs and older people. She is looking for a loving forever home where she can be spoiled and treated like a princess.

We met Miss Daisy through Love of Labs in Avon, Indiana.

Meet Munchkin!

Munchkin has just rejoined our program. She was originally rescued off of deathrow back in April of 2008 and quickly found what we hoped was her forever home. However, we recently received word that it wasn't working out.

We have re-evaluated Munchkin and find her to be a total delight. She is a very sweet girl who wants very much to please. She enjoys playing with other dogs and would do excellent with a male dog who matches her energy level or doesn't mind her always wanting to play.

Munch is a great girl with all kinds of love to give to the lucky family who gives her a forever home.

We found Munchkin through Mid-America Bully Breed Rescue. Founded by two Kansas dog lovers who faced dozens of homeless pit bulls daily that had to be turned away for lack of space and funding, Kansas Pit Bull Rescue was formed to assist pit bull type dogs in high-kill animal control facilities in the Midwest. With significant help from supporters and donors, KPR placed over a hundred needy Pit Bulls into responsible forever homes.

Meet Debo!

Have you ever been hit by a semi-truck, Debo has!

Hard to believe, but the tough little guy not only survived, he came away from the accident almost as good as new. Although Debo has a little curvature of the spine, which only adds to his cuteness when he wriggles for attention from people.

He got fixed up at the Best Friends clinic after his run-in with the truck. But then his person never came back to bring him home! Debo wriggled day and night, waiting, but he never saw him again.

Debo is a mellow dog, and he likes ladies the best. And he enjoys looking for lizards on his walks. But he really needs to be an only pet, he doesn't like other dogs or cats. Born in just 2007, he hopes it's not too late to find a home again!

We found Debo currently being cared for by Best Friends Animal Society.

Meet Monty!

This is Monty, he is seven years old and has had a very rough life.

For reasons unknown to anyone in the rescue, he has been shuffled in and out of many homes throughout his life. He is a very sweet boy, and loves people. He's OK with other dogs, but would probably be happiest in a home that did not have any other dogs because he does not always like them, and the rescue people would rather be safe and place me into a home where I can be happy forever.

If you have a spot in your heart and home for Monty to finally stay and be loved forever, please visit him.

We found Monty currently being cared for by a foster home with The Bulldog Club of America Rescue Network. The BCA Rescue Network, Inc. is a non-profit organization with IRS 501c) 3) status. They have many volunteers nationwide who love the Bulldog breed and are dedicated to its continued well-being. The volunteers find new homes for more than 1000 Bulldogs per year. Many thousands of dollars are spent to provide medical care, food, shelter, and training while the rescued Bulldogs are awaiting adoption.

Meet Petey!

One minute with Petey and he'll have you laughing and smiling. He is a goofball. He becomes very attached to his people and will follow you where ever you go. He can't wait for you to sit down so he can lay across your lap. He loves going for walks and car rides .

He loves to meet new people, he sits down right in front of them so they'll notice him. And everybody just seems to fall in love with him! Petey's perfect day would be a big breakfast, a long walk, a big dinner and then cuddling on the couch watching TV. Petey's a skinny one and most certainly won't need to research which ones are the best diet pills.

He has a lot of personality and a lot of funny quirks. Petey is looking for an owner with a great sense of humor and a big heart, just like his. Petey is between 1 and 2 years old, good with dogs, housetrained and neutered. Prefers a home with no small children due to his size and being a clumsy goofball. Also would love a fenced in yard.

We found Petey currently being cared for by American Bulldog Rescue in Newtown, Pennsylvania.

400 Dogs Rescued from Arkansas Puppy Mill!

According to KARK 4 News in Little Rock, Arkansas...

Meet Brandi!

Brandie is quite the black and white beauty! She is a gorgeous girl, but this was not always the case. When she first came to rescue, Brandie was a raw, red, itchy, balding, inflamed mess of a Frenchie. Now that she’s feeling so much better she’s finally ready to search for her forever family.

This pretty girl was surrendered at a New York City shelter and luckily some of our quick-acting volunteers made sure she made her way to the safety of FBRN. Records showed that she was left there by her former family because they felt they could no longer care for her during her allergic breakouts.

Though her allergies are now under control, any potential adopter should view the pictures below and realize that a new allergic reaction or breakout may happen at any point in the future. Her condition will require vigilance, because her exact triggers are not completely known.

Brandie has never met a stranger; she’s a rambunctious young Frenchie with a wonderful personality, and to say that she’s people-centric can be a bit of an understatement. It is possible that she suffers from some separation anxiety as she will do absolutely anything in her power to follow her people whenever they have to leave the house. She will jump, climb, or do cartwheels across any barrier that stands in her way.

We met Brandi through French Bulldog Rescue Network in Glen Allen, Virginia.

Meet Shiloh!

Shiloh is an 11 month old Shepherd/Malamute mix with brown eyes. His owner, due to medical issues, was forced to give Shiloh up. He's shy when you first meet him, but really wants to please and has lived with little kids before. Shiloh is looking for a home that will hike with him, jog with him and generally just be his friend and companion. He also would really like it if you have another dog to keep him company, while you go out off to work.

We found Shiloh currently being cared for by Snow Dog Rescue in Orange, California. Snow Dog Rescue is a general name used to acknowledge a couple of Southern California's great Nordic Breed Rescuers, and their fosters. The majority are members of the Siberian Husky Rescue and Referral, which is a non profit organization created for the welfare of Siberian Huskies.

Meet Morgan!

Morgan is an absolute love, is as sweet as sweet can be and a very happy girl. She is fully house trained, crate trained, and loves to ride in the car. She is very good on leash and with other dogs. She has not had any experience with cats, but her rescue folks think she would do fine once properly introduced. She has basic obedience, is very smart and quick to pick up on the “rules” in her new foster home.

Morgan wants to be someone’s special companion, and spend her days close to her human and give all the love that is in her heart. While Morgan has always been around other dogs, they feel she would do fine as an only dog if adopted to a home where her human was home most of the time to share their lives.

We found Morgan through Papillon 911 Rescue and Adoption, Inc. (or Pap 911. They are a charitable organization created to rescue Papillons and Papillon mixes nationwide. They supply food, shelter, and loving attention plus medical and dental care to all Papillons in need, and will rescue and shelter any Papillon or Papillon mix abandoned in a kill shelter or accept one from an owner who is unable to care for their dog.

Meet Graycie!

Graycie is a very sweet, 12 lb, tan with black mask, 2 yr old Lhasa/Tzu. When she arrived in rescue, she was very shy and fearful (but not aggressive at all). She had been in the shelter for two weeks. Now, she is very playful, albeit shy at first to strangers and loud noises. She is slowly but surely beginning to blossom and every day shows more of her personality!

She absolutely needs to go to a home where she will have a companion canine. And she would love to have kids (over 8 yrs) to play with too! She needs lots of love and patience. She is not outgoing at first, but once she settled in, she really does love the attention. This little girl is a winner!

We found Graycie through Lhasa Happy Homes. Their ongoing mission is to match families with their ideal pets and give these special homeless pups a second chance at a great new life.

Meet Callie!

Callie is a laid-back 6 year old, Merle, female Dane with cropped ears, although they don’t stand quite upright. She was rescued from a questionable breeder in Kansas and is enjoying her new life in a real home. Because of her past, she does not do well with other dogs and will need to be the only dog in her forever family.

Even though she does not get along with other dogs, she absolutely loves to receive affection from her humans and will do whatever it takes to get a pat.

Callie is an aspiring escape artist and just wants to be with her humans. Through no fault of her own, Callie has started to exhibit some signs of separation anxiety (something she didn't do when first arriving in rescue over 6 months ago).

Now that she has landed back into a stable environment, this anxiety seems to be lowered and she is settling in once again. Callie is experiencing children for the first time and absolutely adores them. She especially likes sleeping on their bed as they leave plenty of room for her to sprawl out. She also enjoys kisses from them. Callie is ready to find her forever family so she can live a life of luxury.

We found Callie through Rocky Mountain Great Dane Rescue, Inc. They are recognized as a major resource for the welfare of homeless, abandoned and abused companion animals in Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, Utah and Wyoming.

Meet Max!

Max is a handsome purebred or very close mix. He is between 2 to 3 years of age. He is a tri color with a medium coat. Max has a very strong herding drive which developed into car chasing. This resulted in his incarceration at a local shelter. If he is kept busy he has less interest in cars, but he does need a fenced yard for his safety.

Max is a little shy with strangers, but once he knows you, you will never meet a sweeter dog. He has no alpha or aggressive behavior and gets along well with his foster brothers and sisters.

Max has had no accidents in the house, but he prefers to spend most of his time outdoors. He has not been around any children while at his foster home, but would probably do better with older children. Max did nip at a vet tech while being held, but has been very well behaved at later vet visits. Max needs to have a family that will take their time and give him plenty of patience and love. We met Max through East Tennessee Border Collie Rescue.

Meet Mackenzie!

Tiny, tiny, tiny! Mackenzie is just a little girl. She's very pretty and quite sweet. She captured smiles and pats from everyone who saw her at a recent (and her first) Petsmart adoption event.

Her rescuers have not really gotten to know Mackenzie very well, as she is a relative newcomer to rescue, but she was very content to sit in her handler's lap for the duration of the adoption event. From there, her new foster mom took her home to begin the heartworm treatment process. It is doubtful that she'll be ready for adoption before the end of May/beginning of June. She's a sweet girl and will be worth the wait!

We met Mack through Beagle Rescue of Southern Maryland in Waldorf, Maryland. Beagle Rescue of Southern Maryland, Inc., or Beagle Maryland, is a nonprofit corporation founded in April 2001, which helps and finds homes for beagles in need. Our beagles come to us as strays, from shelters, as owner surrenders - and we do all we can to help every beagle in need of help who crosses our path.

Meet Bonnie!

Bonnie is a 2 yr old border terrier girl that was rescued from a local shelter. Bonnie is a very calm, mellow, dog that likes to just hang out and be somebody's companion. Bonnie is well behaved in the house and is most content being in the company of wherever her human is and whatever her human is doing. Bonnie is not a very active dog, yet she definitely gets playful and loves to chase tennis balls.

She loves to go on walks or is just as happy hanging around the house. Bonnie is quite content relaxing on her dog bed and being a nice, well-behaved little girl. She gets along with all dogs and cats and is fine with children. She would make a great companion dog to someone out there looking for a furry best friend.

We found Bonnie currently being cared for by Life4Paws in Winnetka, California. Life4Paws is dedicated to supporting the adoption and rescue of shelter animals. We have chosen West Valley Animal Shelter as our partner in the "Adopt-A-Shelter" program.

Meet Ori!

Ori’s a pretty little thing who came to rescue from an Inland Empire shelter with a badly broken leg requiring bone surgery to repair. As their vets were evaluating her for the procedure, they also discovered she has a pretty severe heart murmur due to a congenital defect called sub-aortic stenosis (SAS); this is all-too-common in her breed! Sadly, Ori’s life is expected to be shortened because of this, but since she doesn’t know she’s as happy and care-free as a Golden girl can be.

Ori’s looking for a place where she can spend the next few holidays with a loving family and enjoy life in the same style as all her other Golden friends. Ori is a permanent foster of GRCGLARescue, which means they'll continue to be responsible for her medical expenses for life. But Ori would like a home where she gets human company most of the time, and where there is another happy, friendly dog about her own age, size and play style to wrestle with.

We met Ori through the Golden Retriever Club of Greater Los Angeles Rescue in Los Angeles, California. The Golden Retriever Club of Greater Los Angeles Rescue was incorporated as a tax exempt 501c(3), charitable foundation in 2001, but they've been in informal operation for many years, making them the oldest Golden Retriever rescue organization in continuous operation in southern California.

Meet Buddy Zak!

Buddy Zak is a handsome Tibetan spaniel, and young, perhaps 4 years old now. He is a vigorous and energetic fellow, full of charm once he gets to know you, but he is extremely slow to come around. or warm up and doesn't meet new people well. Once he does he's your buddy, a great and friendly dog. He is house trained and weights about 20 lbs.

We found Buddy currently being cared for by Small Dog Rescue in Princeton, New Jersey. They are a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization and a no-kill sanctuary, primarily for small dogs.

Meet Rex!

Rex is a very handsome black and white American Field Bred English Setter who just celebrated his first birthday on February 2nd.

He is a teenager in dog years and anyone who has raised a teenage knows that with age comes maturity! His perfect home will offer him lots of unconditional love, a fenced in yard to run and play, plenty of cuddle time, and maybe even an undermount sink, so you can quickly wash away any of his past anxiety :) Rex is housebroken, crate trained, neutered, up to date on all of his vaccines, and heartworm negative.

He does have a bit of separation anxiety due to the fact that his previous adopter left him in a cage for many long hours every day which added to his stress. While he felt safe around the dogs in that home, he will need time to feel comfortable around new dogs as he wasn't socialized enough as a puppy. Rex will need a patience adopter to help him build his confidence and get over some of his separation anxiety issues.

We met Rex through Illinois Birddog Rescue, Inc., in Addison, Illinois.

Meet Joseph!

Joseph would like be your lap dog for hugs and lots of love. He's bright, inquisitive, a quick learner, and comes when called. He's somewhat shy initially with his entire back end wagging. He was picked up as a stray has some scars healing on his nose & slight tear in one ear, but he is a trusting, adoring soul. This four year old is a petite 23 pounds and has been fully vetted.

We met Joseph currently being cared for by Corgis & friends of Walmarsh Edisto Island, South Carolina. Their mission is to rescue, evaluate, socialize and vet their fosters initially. These dogs are so deserving of a second chance and they expect to place them in homes that will love and care for them in a way befitting a loyal family member.

Meet Harley!

Harley is a wonderful 70 lb mix breed dog. He is a light brown with wiry hair - the perfect "Tramp" dog. He is housebroken, lovable, well behaved and good with kids, cats and other dogs. He is quiet, walks great on a leash and is a great companion for car rides!

Harley may be just about the perfect dog - except he has been recently diagnosed with diabetes. His former owners didn't feel that they could afford him and were going to have him euthanized until the vet clinic staff - who loved him - stepped in and asked that he be released to them so that PFS could take him.

We found Harley currently being cared for by P.F.S. or Pets for Seniors in Edwards, Illinois. Pets for Seniors is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization whose main purpose is to match older, compatible shelter cats and dogs with qualifying senior citizens.

Meet Joaquin!

This is Joaquin. Joaquin lost his home because his dad lost his job; like so many dogs these days. Joaquin is a big Yorkie at around 20 pounds, but just the more to love and tumble with! Since Joaquin is so big, he would be okay in a home with mild-mannered older children and a safe enclosed backyard with a little safety equipment to take care of any escape avenues. He needs to run around and play and possibly be able to lose a pound or two.

He will also need another dog to play with. We are still evaluating Joaquin, but so far, he is a sweet boy and gets along fine with other dogs and he likes men too! He is healthy, up to date on his shots, neutered and microchipped. He is around 4 years old.

We met Joaquin through Yorkshire Terrier National Rescue Inc. They are dedicated to finding the best possible homes for Yorkshire Terriers in our care, regardless of age, sight, hearing or other handicaps. Everyday they help local pounds and other types of shelters find Yorkies in need of our help in relocating homeless and abandoned pets.

Skye Terriers are an extremely rare, yet exceptional breed of dog and are even more rare in rescue. Please research this fabulous breed of canine before applying to adopt one of these lovely babies. This precious angel has been altered, is UTD on shots, HW negative and is on preventatives.

She absolutely loves to go for walks too! An ideal home for Kiley would be a quiet one where there are no children and also where there is another dog since she likes to have a canine friend around.

Meet Benji!

Benji is an amazing fellow. He was a stray who was skinny and scared. His coat was so matted with clumps it was hard to tell what he should look like. When the 911 operator called, all his rescuers knew was that a dog was in someone's yard with an arrow sticking in him and he was dying in the yard.

Benji has come a long way. Benji graduated from the New Leash on Life program at Brown Creek Correctional Facility. He is able to do all the things the other dogs do. His Special Need is that he is still very afraid of people-and who could blame him? Benji is sweet and gentle and loving but VERY shy. He LOVES other dogs and loves to play. He is a very active dog. His ideal home would probably include a canine brother or sister and a large fenced yard. He is crate trained and housebroken but loves to play outside. A very special family is needed for Benji. He has been through a lot and he deserves to find his forever home!

We met Benji through Companion Canines in Marshville, North Carolina.

Meet Harold!

Harold was born in February 2005. He has the most beautiful "terrier" face. He weighs about 65 lbs. with a chunky, muscular look more "terrier" than lab.

Harold is a polite, well-mannered guy who would appreciate a calm home-life. Already neutered, all shots, Frontline & Heartguard. Fenced yard required.
