Meet LuLu!

LuLu is a Border Collie mix about 7 months old. Sadly she was surrendered because her owner could no longer care for her.

We found LuLu through the Jefferson City Animal Shelter in Jefferson City, Missouri.

Meet Karizma!

Karizma is a 12 year old female Cocker Spaniel Mix. No children or other animals in the home please. This beautiful girl has a bowel disease which causes her to get bladder infections on a regular bases. When these attacks occur, she has to potty all the time and will very often go in the house or wherever she is standing. She will potty sometimes 5 ~ 10 times in a row before settling down.

Her rescuers have her on easily digestible food and some pills to help keep her internal track healthy. Karizma is a sweetheart and will make a tender companion dog to a retired couple.

We found Karizma through Azure's Safe Haven in Orem, Utah.

Joe was turned over to us due to his owner's allergies. He is a loyal, loving guy with a great personality and temperament. He is also outgoing and affectionate & deserves a loving family to share life with.

Best of all, he is good with other dogs & loves children. He knows basic commands like sit, stay and shake and is house and leash trained. Joe enjoys the outdoors and likes to be in the water. This handsome guy would love a family and home that he can call his own.

Meet Queen Isabella!

Queen Isabella is mostly great Pyrennes puppy, very sweet natured, spayed current on shots, will be a very large dog. She is a herding breed, very good with goats and sheep.

Isabella needs a very large yard and access to AC in the summer months because of heavy coat. Her approximate DOB is May 2010.

We found Queen Isabella through Saving Pets At Risk in Shawnee, Oklahoma.

Meet Goldster!

Goldster recently graduated from the Triple Crown Training Academy located in Hutto, TX. She has learned several commands that include basic obedience, off leash training/handling, and basic agility.

Goldster prefers woman over men. And she is very protective of "her" person. She would do best in a household where she is the only pet, and with somebody who will maintain and continue the training she received while in the training academy. And since she's so obedient you won't need any spring plungers, she's gonna go outside!

We found Goldster through 2nd Chance Animal Shelter Cen-Tex Humane Society in Killeen, Texas.

Meet Daisy!

Daisy and her 3 sisters are the pups of a Saint Bernard mother, who was abandoned pregnant and in poor condition. Her puppies are healthy and growing like weeds.

Meet Mr. Specs!

Mr. Specs has lived in rescue most of his life. He was the only one of a litter to not be rescued due to having parvo. As soon as he recovered from parvo, he was run over by a car and it did permanent damage to his left shoulder/leg . He is also having issues now with a back leg due to strain on the other legs due to the useless front leg.

Mr. Specs has really had a hard life and is needing someone who is looking for a companion. He is loyal and loving and a big 'ole baby. He has been the "surrogate mother" to many of our rescues and it is time for him to find his forever home. His personality is super and would be great for kids of an older age. He's not quite a runner but gives it all everyday. Mr. Specs is great with other dogs, cats and people, just anything really.

We found Mr. Specs through the Clay County Humane Association in Ivydale, West Virginia.

For more information about Mr. Specs, click here!

Meet Joe Joe!

Joe Joe (aka G.I. Joe) is a 1-2 year old Pekingese-Pomeranian mix who weighs 10 pounds. He was rescued from a high kill shelter in Southwest Virginia, so we have no idea why he was given the name G I Joe.

He has a sweet personality and loves to cuddle. Joe Joe is gentle and does fine with children and small dogs, although he is a bit cautious with larger dogs. He is also cautious when first meeting men, and takes some time to warm up to them.

We found Joe Joe through Animal Connections in Troy, Virginia.

Meet Charlie!

Charlie is very energetic and very playful. Good natured, his new family will need to find creative ways to keep him busy and tired. It may prove a challenge :) Charlie is great with dogs and kids but his strong hunting instincts mean he would do best in a home without cats. He does however promise to keep your yard squirrel-free.

Charlie is housebroken unless you have house plants. He feels the need to pee on them. He is a bit of a chewer (will go for the odd shoe and destroys plush squeeky toys) so make sure he has durable chew toys. He is not a lap dog but may sleep with you at night. Charlie enjoys the art of digging in dirt.

We found Charlie through the Animal Protection League in Columbia, South Carolina.

Meet Bronze!

Bronze is a little shy, but he warms up quickly. He walks well on a leash and is mostly house-trained, but could be fully house-trained with a little encouragement and a loving home.

Meet Dolly!

Dolly is a special needs dog with a very special personality. She adores people, and will dance to be picked up. She only has one eye, and that eye has an advanced cataract, but Dolly learns her space very well.

She always knows when company pulls up and excitedly greets everyone. Never met a stranger. She goes outside and explores, then comes right back up the steps and into the house. She is housebroken.

We met Dolly through Furry Friends Animal Rescue in Thompson Station, Tennessee.

Meet Jilley!

Jilley is a 1 1/2 year old Border Collie, always ready to play. She loves toys and will pick up anything and everything in order to play. She also loves interacting with people to go, go, go, like all young BC's. She is a sweetie, very friendly with everyone and absolutely the sweetest cuddler around.

She loves, loves, loves people! Jilley has a great personality and the energy to match so will need an active home. She could easily do any sport and thrives on challenges and learning. She is about 40 pounds and good with cats. She is safely now in rescue rather than running loose on the streets.

We found Jilley through Glen Highland Farm - Sweet Border Collie Rescue in Morris, New York.

Meet Marvin!

Marvin came to rescue from a PA shelter where he was described as "scared to death, all he does is sit there and shake." Marvin was an owner turn in due to landlord issues. Marvin is a great guy once he knows you and feels comfortable.

If he is scared and can run, he will. If he can't run, he can be a fear biter. I have seen no sign of any kind of aggression here with me but he was not a happy camper at the vets and had to be muzzled. This cockerpoo boy needs a fenced yard.

We found Marvin through CockerPals Rescue in Hobart, New York.

For more information about Marvin, click here!

Meet Huck and Bingo!

Huck and Bingo were turned into the shelter because their owners thought they were "too old". They were skinny and infested with fleas and probably feeling miserable. But now they are treated, fed regularly and are feeling much better.

They are about 14 years old, but are very young at heart. They are an adorable pair. They take care of each other and play together. Bingo will chase down a stuffed toy and bring it back to Huck's bed. Huck likes to sit close and give kisses. Huck has also been seen carrying around a stuffed toy. They have sweet personalities and have been low-maintenance guests at their foster home.

We found Huck and Bingo through Furry Friends Network in Boiling Springs, Pennsylvania.

Meet Cora!

Cora is one special and unique little girl. She came into the rescue as an owner surrender from a mother whose son purchased her from a "breeder". Cora was not very well taken care of, left almost entirely on a porch and only taken outside once a week! Not a good start to life for such a sweet baby.

Cora went into a foster home (where she is now) with two adult pit bulls and a baby pit bull (another foster). For being so under-socialized her first four months of life, she has done extraordinarily well integrating into a real home and taking direction from her doggie friends. She can be a bit headstrong with certain dogs, not aggressive at all, just seems to think she's bigger than she is sometimes. She would do fine living with another dog, but it would have to be the "right" dog. As with any puppy, Cora can still be a bit mouthy when excited.

We found Cora through PittieLove Rescue Inc., in Framingham, Massachusetts.

Meet Hoover!

Hoover is a sweet older gent of about 8 years. He's proven himself to be an easy going, laid back, quiet, loving guy. He was very skinny and a bit sickly when he arrived into rescue, but has made a 100% recovery.

Its obvious he likely was a hunter - he likes to go out into the fenced yard sniffing the air and baying up trees. He loves to go for walks but is strong on a leash.

We found Hoover through Libby's Haven for Senior Canines in Canterbury, New Hampshire.

Meet Ellie!

Searching around on our desktop computer the other day we found Ellie! She is a gorgeous Yellow lab mix about 3-4 years old.

This girl came to Charley's Strays from a "family" that left her tied out day and night. As a result, Ellie has a ton of energy and not much for manners. She is a very sweet girl - who would thrive in an adult home where she would receive lots of exercise and attend basic obedience classes and even learn some tricks through some of the great trick vids on your computer through YouTube!

Ellie loves to play - and makes everything a toy. She is highly food motivated - and will do anything for a treat. This will make her easy to train. She already knows how to "sit." You'll want to check out some great laptop reviews to be sure and record and save all the great things she does!

She is not a dog for a family that wants a mellow, couch potato Lab. She, however, would love to be part of a family that hikes, jogs, snow shoes, etc. We also have not had time or people to train her to go to the potty outside. So this will be a job you have to take on. You can learn more by searching on your laptop and getting some good positive potty training advice.

We found Ellie through Charley's Strays in Clinton, Maine.

Meet Pilot!

Pilot is year old Husky/Pitbull terrier mix. He is an extremely sweet and tolerant dog.

He was very timid when he first came and was not comfortable with being outdoors. Now he is playing with other dogs in the yard, running around and enjoying himself. He is a beautiful dog with a kind heart. He allows the other dogs to play with him and is very good with other younger dogs who may not know their manners, yet.

Pilot will make a wonderful addition to a loving home.

We found Pilot through Alaska SPCA in Anchorage, Alaska.

Meet Hershel!

Hershel is the sort of dog that belongs playing in the yard with his tennis ball and loping along by your side on a walk. He is a delight to walk on a leash, follows well in an easy-going manner, no tugging or pulling.

There is nothing fussy about him; he is just a great big loveable boy, with a debonair look. He is house-trained, and knows to "sit" on command. Hershel is a mature 8 or 9 years old.

He is also a good watchdog and will bark at strangers. He would probably do best in a single dog household as he has shown dominance and can be protective of his food, but you will be rewarded by boundless devotion and love. Rescued from a terrible hoarding situation, Hershel may never have known what it's like to be truly loved and cared for.

We found Hershel through Taras Babies in Young, Arizona.

For more information about Hershel, click here!

Meet Pearl!

Pearl is a gorgeous Catahoula/Pointer mix who was turned over by her owners because she didn't get along with the cat. However, she does get along great with children and other dogs. With a kind and gentle personality, we believe she should go to a family that feels she will be pampered and loved.

She is spayed, current on shots, house & leash trained and most of all, ready for a long lasting, loving relationship with you. She also knows basic commands and would love to learn more if you're willing to teach her. And you may want to upgrade to a Moen kitchen faucet and keep Pearl's white parts nice and white! Pearl will make a great addition to an active person or family with patience and time for her.

We found Pearl through the Humane Society of Central Arizona in Payson, Arizona.

For more information about Pearl, click here!

Meet Jude!

Jude is a very sweet, very smart and very energetic puppy. She is well adjusted and happy, just needs some obedience training and manners. She is eager to please and a very quick learner.

Jude would love an active family. She would love to attend baseball and soccer games, go hiking and camping, go for runs and dog parks.

Jude would also be happy, after an active day, to curl up next to you and take a nap. Jude is very good at napping. She may even be able to give you tips!

If you're looking for a new family member - a new friend - a new playmate - consider Jude. She's amazing and wonderful and ready for her forever family.

We found Jude through Boxers and Buddies in Reno, Nevada.

Meet Rye!

Rye's physical appearance can be deceiving. He weighs over 70 pounds and has a head the size of a cannon ball. But Rye is a gentle giant. When Rye first came to Safe Haven, he would crawl on his belly along the walls of the kennel when a human was present. But no matter how fearful he was, Rye never showed any signs of aggression.

Rye walks well on lead and loves to go in the car. He is still shy, but he is open to new experiences. He's seen a cat or two there and is curious, but not aggressive.

We found Rye through Safe Haven Kennel in Yerington, Nevada.
