Meet Sophie!

When Sophie grew up to be too big of a dog, her family surrendered her to the shelter due to space constraints. She is a very good girl who gets along well with other dogs, and according to her previous owners, is also fine with cats.

Since arriving at the shelter, Sophie has begun learning her obedience training and is an ace student. She needs an adopter willing and committed to continue her training lessons in a fun and stimulating way. Sophie is very social and loves attention & affection.

She is excellent off lead and enjoys walks and hiking. Sophie can be possessive of her stuff, so a home without small children is required. This big, beautiful girl just wants the chance to find a new family she can love forever.

We found Sophie through the Animal Shelter of Wood River Valley in Hailey, Idaho.

Meet Chrissie!

Do you like big, soft, huggable dogs? The kind that push their face against you and sigh with contentment while you wrap your arms around them and bury your face in their fur? Then Chrissie is the girl for you!

Chrissie has a sweet, mild-mannered temperament, and she loves to be loved. She enjoys attention and hugs. And she knows how to sit and shake hands, too! Since she knows those things, she's probably housetrained too, but we don't know for sure. Shes a very big girl but doesn't need any fat burners side effects, BOL! She has pretty, fluffy fur and is very huggable! Chrissie is about 7 years old.

We found Chrissie through Callaway Hills Animal Shelter in New Bloomfield, Missouri.

Meet Buster!

Buster is about one year old. He is an adorable brown and white Terrier mix.

Buster loves to run and has lots of energy! He was found on the side of the road with his sister, Kadie. We think someone had thrown both of them out of a car as they had asphalt engrained in their skin.

Buster is a good natured dog but does need some manners and basic training. He would make a great addition to a family but would probably not do well with cats. Buster likes some dogs but not all so introducing him to other dogs is imperative.

We found Buster through Animal Rescue Fund of MS in Pelahatchie, Missssippi.

Meet Nellie!

Another puppy dropped on the road. Nellie is thin, but acts very healthy. She also is comfortable in a house, which suggests she has been indoors at one time. She has been spayed, vaccinated, and successfully treated for hook worms.

Nellie will probably be about 35 to 40 pounds when fully grown. Her rescurers have noticed no aggression toward people, or children. She can get rowdy with the other dogs in my pack, but she's working through that with help. Folks interested in Nellie should have experience with pit bulls. You'll be sure and want to look into some nice x-mas presents for her for the holidays!

We found Nellie through Leland's Hope in Conway, Arkansas.

OK GO and the rescue pups!

If you haven't seen this video yet, you've got to!

The "White Knuckles" video from the group OK GO is just amazing. They are known for their super fun videos...

The first time we saw their new video we were amazed. And after learning more about the video we were even more amazed. This video was shot in one take, after 124 takes it was take number 72 that was the keeper. The dogs were trained and directed through the folks at Talented Animals in CA. You can read all about the making of the video on their blog, it's a very interesting read.

The other cool thing, but certainly not amazing to me, is most of the dogs are rescues, just like me and Gracie! Check this out...some talented rescue dogs that's fur sure. Hmmmm....wonder if they can also pull the cord on the blinds & shades that would be pawsome!

OK GO is donating the net proceeds of the sales of their video from their website to the ASPCA. They have specifically earmarked a fund to support rural, volunteer-run animal shelters in America, just like the Southside Animal Shelter where I came from.

You can buy the video at whichever price you like starting at $2, and you can buy it as many times as you like...the profits are going to save animals!

He is estimated to have been born around May of 2010. He has so much personality and he is very confident in everything he does. If you will notice his big feet; we are not sure that he may have some Great Dane in him, but we're sure in the chill he would love some sweaters to keep him warm!

Meet Chloe!

Chloe is only called Big Chloe because she is taller than Little Chloe. She is actually a lean and active young lady and very agile! Chloe can walk on her hind legs; jump really high and loves to run!

She would be happiest with an active family who will walk her daily or plenty of room to run off that abundance of energy, and give her nice matouk's to sleep on. Chloe gets along well with some dogs but would be best suited with a single dog family.

We found Chloe through Pointe Coupee Animal Shelter in New Roads, Louisiana.

Meet Zinger!

We're turning it over to Zinger!!!

"Hello! My name is Zinger. They think I am between 1 ½ and 2 years old. My foster mom says I am a very vivacious, happy go lucky little fellow. And I'm young so I won't have to look into life insurance rates yet, BOL! My temporary Mom tells me all the time how loving and special I am. I love to talk to you and whenever you speak to me, I will definitely talk back.

I just love to run and play with my furry foster sister, who is a boisterous lab mix. She is almost blind and I have sort of become her 'seeing eye dog.' I guide, and she follows. I can run like the wind and cut corners like crazy. I would love to receive some agility training and learn some fun new tricks. I am a Border Collie mix and weigh around 25 pounds. My mom also says that I am extremely gentle and submissive. I haven’t met a stranger yet. I just want to be friends with everyone."

We found Zinger through Cabarrus Pets Society in Concord, North Carolina.

Sarah is a female Border Collie mix. She is estimated to be 4-5 years old. She is a smart, sweet dog, but is not good with cats, small dogs or children.

She has a very typical Border Collie personality and would be a fabulous companion for a person looking for a hiking buddy. So you could get out that RV, with some good rv insurance, and hit the road for a cool hiking trip! Her rescuers say Sarah is just a gem of a dog.

We found Sarah through the Heartworm Project in West Columbia, South Carolina.

Meet Faith!

Faith was discovered by a county animal control officer after she had been left in a house for more than a month without food or water. Her owner had been taken to a nursing home and Faith had been left behind. Poor Faith was extremely emaciated and barely able to walk.

Faith received extensive vet care and then moved into her current foster home. She is now doing great and looks like an entirely different dog. Her rescuers think she might be a mix of Sheltie/Border collie/shepherd mix/Jack Russell....quite frankly, who knows??

She has gained weight (she now weighs about 40 pounds) and strength, and she is really looking beautiful! She still runs with a slightly odd gait but actually gets around very well. She is completely housebroken and loves to go outside. She doesn't like the rain...like most dogs...unless we put on her little yellow rain jacket!

Faith is a very, very happy dog and an easy one to have around. For the most part she hangs out in her foster mom's office. She is very content to just snooze for periods of time, and then gets up with her tail wagging and asks to go outside or to play. Several times a day she becomes quite playful, chases her tail, and runs around the yard in big circles. She absolutely loves squeaky toys and will play "fetch" until you become tired.

Her rescuers have also discovered that Faith loves children...and kids seem to respond very strongly to her as well.

We found Faith through Angels Among Us Pet Rescue, Inc., in Alpharetta, Georgia.

Meet Molly!

Molly came back into rescue after several years with her elderly owners when they could no longer care for her. She is older, maybe as much as 12, but is happy and active. Molly takes inexpensive heart meds, but otherwise appears healthy. She is housebroken and very sweet.

Molly gets along very well with other dogs, loves to ride in the car, and walks well on a leash. She is very quiet unless dinner is late or she needs to go out, and then she will let you know all about it. She is not "needy" and seems to be happy just hanging out.

Because of her huge coat, she appears to be large, but actually weighs less than 10 pounds. She's a lovely girl, and would be a great addition to your family for the holidays, with all the decorating and putting up the C9 led christmas lights!

We found Molly through Furry Friends Animal Rescue in Thompson Station, Tennessee.

Meet Peyton!

Peyton may be mixed with something in addition to Chihuahua, but his rescuers are not sure what. He has the most beautiful eyes that are light brown, almost yellow. He has a very sweet disposition as soon as he is comfortable.

Peyton rides well in a car, so he'd be great on that Branson vacation trip! He walks well on a leash, and loves to cuddle, and is housebroken too. He will probably do best in a house with no more than 1 or 2 other dogs, even though he gets along well with dogs and cats.

We found Peyton through 911 Pet Rescue, Inc., in Centerpoint, Indiana.

Meet Molly!

Molly is a very sweet and affectionate little girl that would be a wonderful companion and lap dog as she thrives on attention. She loves people, and does well with smaller dogs and cats. Molly would do best in a calmer household with no small children due to her size. She is blind in one eye due to an injury in her former home and is starting to get some clouding in her other eye.

Molly has a slight heart murmur that does not affect her play and love for people. She is mostly house broken, and does best if taken out diligently to avoid accidents. Molly is microchipped.

We found Molly through the Humane Society of Morrow County in Mount Gilead, Ohio.

Meet Grant!

We're turning it over to Grant!

"Hi! My name is Grant! My foster family isn't sure what breed I am, but they think maybe Australian Shepherd mixed with some other breeds, as I am long, low, and have a short coat.

I am about 2 years old, 37 pounds, am crate-trained, and working on housetraining. My brother, Gavin, and I were abandoned along with a few other dogs when our owners moved. We then found ourselves at a shelter until we came to our foster family with FFN."

"I enjoy playing with other dogs, especially when they're my size and aren't too bossy! My best friend in the whole world is my brother, Gavin. I just adore playing with him. I live with a Saint Bernard too- we get along well most of the time, but sometimes she scares me because she's so big! I live with kitties and am just great with them- they love me too, because I never bother or chase them. I love playing outside and running around chasing toys."

We found Grant through Furry Friends Network in Boiling Springs, Pennsylvania.

Monday, October 4, 2010

Meet Cher!

Cher is such a wonderful dog. She's a little high energy, but after a little run time she's fine. Cher loves to run. She likes her belly rubbed and loves to eat. Cher doesn't do well with cats, but she's great with other dogs.

Cher was rescued from a horrible fate. Hunters tried to kill her and her companion Sonny with a hammer. Thanks to the quick thinking of a concerned citizen, they are now living with Clay Humane waiting on their forever home.

We found Cher through the Clay County Humane Association in Ivydale, West Virginia.

Meet Bob!

Bouncy Bob offers the perfect combination of energy and sweetness in a dog! This 2-year-old Boxer likes playtime with you, but he really loves attention and will doggedly try to climb into your lap every chance he gets- even though he's much too big for it!

When he first goes out into the play yard, Bob runs around the perimeter, chasing you or his denmate, getting out all of his energy. But after a few minutes of high-energy romping, Bob quickly bounds over to you, puts his head in your lap and patiently awaits your affection! This loving, great guy is also a fan of kisseswhether youre giving them, or as more often happens, if hes giving them!

He's looking for a mom and a dad so that he can spread his affection around evenly! If youre a couple looking for a sweet dog who has the energy for some real exercise and a penchant for some genuine affection, then Bob is the pup for you!
