Meet Cody!

This handsome, very sweet, big boy has proven himself to be a wonderful, friendly dog at the shelter.

Cody is a pedigree Akbash, a breed superior at livestock guarding and commonly used in Idaho to protect herds of sheep and goats. The Akbash breed instincts have been well preserved. Accordingly, in conjunction with their job, they tend to be aggressive toward other dogs and very protective of their territory.

That said, Cody has surprised us all... he is very good with other dogs at the shelter and he would rather play with them than scare them off! He loves people, and enjoys attention. We are not certain how protective he would become once in a home, but given his observed demeanor at the shelter, he certainly seems to fit the role of a good family companion. Cody is able to scale 8 ft. fences, and will need a home where he is not left in a yard all day

Meet Dude!

This big boy is 10 years old and just a big teddy bear!

Dude came to recue when his owners moved and they could not take him. Dude is housetrained, good with dogs, cats, kids - he is a typical Golden, in that he just wants to be where you are. He is kind of funny looking right now.....his coat is very thin and he is overweight (112 lbs!)

Dude's thyroid is on the low end of normal, but his rescuers feel he has had some allergy issues. Dude is well mannered and obedient. He is used to hanging out in the house. He cannot do stairs very well - we were told that his hips have not been the best, even when he was young. This boy will make a wonderful friend and companion. He would love to go for walks around the neighborhood, but would probably not tolerate long walks or hikes too well.

Meet Jack!

Meet Jack, he's approximately 5-6 months old, neutered, UTD on shots, and is a dalmation mix boy.

Jack was a special needs boy, sweet lil' Jack came to his foster mom's house scared, starved and with a baby face that had been scarred by chemical burns. After some much needed TLC and antibiotics, this lover can't give away enough sweetness.

Everybody falls in love with those eyes! Jack loves other dogs; adults; and loves to play in the lake and extra deep mud puddles! He's smart and know his name when called, sits on command, and almost has the shake paws down pat. He will be the #1 star if put in obedience class which is highly recommended due to his intelligence. Jack is going to be a loyal and awesome companion for some lucky family.

Meet Buttermilk!

Buttermilk is a sweet 4 year old boy . He was found in Birmingham wandering the streets and no owners were ever found .

He is a loveable boy who loves to play with other dogs and clown around. He is very well behaved and just loves to be petted and be loved on .

Meet Will Rogers!

Will Rogers is lucky to be alive! Will was rescued from the Conway Animal Welfare Shelter just in the nick of time.

Will is a young boy at about 2 years old and still very much puppy playful! Will normally has beautiful longer hair, but was shaved for the summer. He is potty trained and fully vetted to include his neuter!

Meet Teddy!

This is Little Teddy, a mixed Griffon with a pure heart. He is a special needs dog because of skin condition that requires special shampoo, but with not much trouble or expense at all.

Other than that he is very healthy and ready for a new home. Teddy is very social and somewhat of an escape artist so a secure fence or kennel to keep him safe when you are away is a must. Teddy gets along with dogs, is cat tolerate and likes people too, even the little ones!

Meet Max!

When Max's owner had to move to the city, he brought Max to the shelter. Max is an all around good boy. Still a young dog, he has lots of energy and is a wonderful, bright and exuberant companion.

A couch potato lifestyle is not suitable for Max he needs to partake in daily mental and physical activities. Max is good with other dogs and quite playful with them. He loves to go for hikes, is great off leash, and would excel in agility or obedience classes. Max needs his obedience training reinforced, but he is such a smart dog, he should be easy to teach and a pleasure to work with. This special boy is ready to begin enjoying winter with a new best friend!

Meet Poodles!

Poodles is a Chihuahua Terrier mix. He is 11 months old. Poodles loves to play with toys. He gets along with other dogs and cats. Poodles is a little afraid of new people, but warms up quick. He weighs about 6 pounds, and is neutered.

Poodles came with Tanner. They are very attached to each other, and we would like to adopt them together.

Meet Junior!

Junior is a very energetic boy who needs a big privacy fenced to keep him safe in the yard. He is capable of jumping 4ft & 6ft chain link fences.

He is very good at listening especially when told to sit. He is a beautiful boy who just needs to be given a chance.

Meet JuJu!

JuJu is a sweet Wire Fox Terrier. She originally came from a shelter. Underneath her 3 inch mats was a beautiful WFT.

JuJu is a senior dog. She has completed a course of heartworm treatment and should provide several years of loving companionship to any home willing to love her. JuJu gets along well with other dogs. She is quiet and grateful for any attention paid to her. She is not dominant, has wonderful house manners and is a low maintenance dog.

Juju would thrive either as an only dog or with a dog companion. She requires a fenced yard and a Terrier experienced owner.

Meet Lester!

As a policy, MAESSR does not place dogs in homes with children under the age of 5, unless the dog previously has lived successfully with children in that age range.

Meet Eli!

Eli was found at local schoolhouse. He was not wearing a collar or any form of ID. His rescuers are estimating he is about four years old.

He looks to have a minor blemish on his left eye and there is possibly a cataract forming. He also has a good sized skin tag between his eyes, but it's only on the surface so it does not seem to be bothering him in any way.

He is friendly and his rescuers have tested him with other dogs and he did just fine. He was obviously someones pet because he looks very well cared for and is already neutered.

Meet Queen Isabella!

Queen Isabella is mostly great Pyrennes puppy, very sweet natured, spayed and current on shots. She will be a very large dog and is a herding breed, very good with goats and sheep.

She needs a very large yard and access to AC in the summer months because of heavy coat. Her approximate DOB is May 2010.

Meet Buck!

Buck is just great. His new nickname is "lovejoy" because he is full of love and just so happy. He greats along with two male weims, a female weim, one large mix breed female and one male Yorkie. He wants to play with them all.

He greats along with kids ages 5 and up. He grumbles very little now when he has to share the water bowl or the couch with another dog. He is learning that shareing is not so bad. We'e sure when you get him home you want to buy gold online and make him the coolest collar ever! Buck is housebroken, crate trained and learning social skills with other animals and large groups of people.

It is great to see him initiating play with other male dogs and sleeping on the couch with two other male Weims. He is making progress. Buck is not cat or small dog friendly.

Meet Fancy!

Miss Fancy Pants is a pretty young Boxer girl that found herself in an awful situation. Fancy is now looking for a new place to call home! Fancy has gained lots of weight, she was so thin when she came into care.

She would be best suited in a family with docile male and no kitties. Fancy loves to run and play now that she is feeling better. Fancy is wonderful with people and will make a super pet for the right family. Fancy currently has a dog door and has learned to use it faithfully.

Meet Dolly!

Dolly is a special needs dog with a very special personality. She adores people, and will dance to be picked up. She only has one eye, and that eye has an advanced cataract, but Dolly learns her space very well. She always knows when company pulls up and excitedly greets everyone. Never met a stranger. She goes outside and explores, then comes right back up the steps and into the house. She is housebroken.

Dolly was turned in at a shelter as a stray, so we have no idea of her age. She was suffering from a horrible skin infection and was mostly bald, but is doing very well now. She gets along fine with other dogs, loves a dog bed, and really is not much trouble at all. She seems to particularly love men.

Meet Pawla Deen!

Pawla Dean is such a sweet, laid back Pekingese mix who steals the heart of all she meets! She is about six years old so she's past the puppy stage. She greets you with hugs and kisses when you come home, but is content to lay around watching TV with you.

She has a condition known as Keratoconjunctivitis Sicca” or “KCS, or more commonly known as "dry eye". She requires drops in her eyes twice a day. The drops are not very expensive and she's such a good girl when they are put in. She is spayed, up to date on shots, great with other dogs and housebroken.

Meet Wee One!

Wee One is very scared. She is not feral, but was poorly socialized. She adores other dogs and the only time we see her wag her tail is when she is with them.

She ignores cats and will need to go to a home that has at least one other dog. We will keep you updated as we continue to work on her, but please contact the APL if interested in fostering Wee One!

Meet CJ!

Lab mix puppy!! Full of love, play and happiness!!

This rescue has a large bundle of love. They saved two mothers and 15 chocolate lab puppies in April. The two mothers are actually a mother and a daughter who had almost simultaneous litters. Three of the puppies are still available -- all are from a chocolate lab mother and unknown father. This is CJ -- short for Cup of Java. All the puppies were named after chocolate or coffee names. CJ is a chocolate lab mix and very playful!!

Meet Bill!

What a nice boy this dog is! Bill is sweet and friendly and his tail never stops wagging!

Bill loves to meet new people and is definitely worth the visit at the shelter were he's living right now. I bet Bill would love those fun family trips in the RV, just make sure you have a 5th wheel warranty to keep you safe on the road!

Meet Archie!

Say hello to two-year-old Archie!

He's a pleasant fellow whose family hit on hard times (all too common an occurrence these days). Archie is a roughcoat Saint who is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and heartworm-negative.

He appears to enjoy the company of children, and he's friendly with most other dogs. He's only been in rescue a short time but has already learned where the treat jar is. He knows a few commands and does well on leash.

Archie would like to be part of a family again. He misses having someone with whom to watch TV or hang out in the backyard. He's a pretty mellow guy who won't mind chilling out while his humans are at work or school. You sure won't need to look into male enhancement products with this dude, BOL! Though preference will be given to the applicant with a fenced yard, consideration will be given to someone willing to walk him on-leash and not leave him outdoors unattended.

Meet Sassy!

This is Sassy! She is a medium size adult dog who is on 'Weight Watchers'. She's a good gal and would be a welcome addition for a loving family. Sassy has been in rescue for several years.

If properley introduced to other dogs she is fine with them. She is very happy just watching her caregiver taking care of things, and she is also happy just wandering around, sniffing at things.

Sassy is 10-11 years old. She is friendly - but aloof. She is not a dog that begs for your attention and would be happy to lie on a couch somewhere and watch the world go by.

Although she is welcome at her rescue forever - they do hope she does not have to stay the rest of her days in the Shelter! Thank you for considering her!!!

Meet Sweetie!

A very wonderful Critter Cavalry foster in Tennessee named Susan got an SOS call one day about an abandoned dog and a cat that had been left in a house that was empty and people had moved away, leaving them with no food or water.

She went to this horrible house and pulled them out of the wreckage through a window and took them home. The cat didn't make it. The American Bulldog/Boston Terrier mix did. She named her Sweetie.

At about 5 years old and weighing a solid 55 lbs. Sweetie is an interesting dog with a very deep soul. Kind of a sadness about her when you first meet her. But there is still a flicker of hope for happiness dancing in her eyes. Especially when she feels she will be getting your attention.

Meet Clover!

Clover is a Beagle/Husky mix weighing around 40. lbs. She seems to get along fine with all her foster dog friends.

She does have arthritis in her hindend, so when she does laps in the fenced backyard she sometimes gets a little stiff. You'll want to keep her warmer and out of metal buildings in the cold weather, fur sure!. Clover will make a great companion for a quiet home.

Meet Pogo!

Pogo is a handsome six year old Bichon that came to DAAWGS from a breeding farm. He is very lively and interested in the world around him, even though he is still unsure of people.

He is good with other dogs and does need to go to a home with another dog. Pogo is not housebroken, has never walked on a leash, and is just learning how to be a dog...applicants should be prepared to start training as if he were a puppy.

Meet Max!

Meet Spencer!

Spencer came to the shelter on June 23rd of this year as a stray from the town of Schenevus. He's probably between 11 and 12 years old. Very nice guy.

Meet Peipei!

Peipei is a friendly and outgoing dog who will wag his tail for anyone.

He is great with children and seems to instinctively understand that he needs to be more gentle with the "little ones." He does fine with cats and dog, too!

Though he`s been known to bark, he is generally quiet. Peipei is a medium energy dog who enjoys a brief run followed by much sniffing. He loves to go for walks, though he does pull on the leash a bit. On a hot summer day, he will slobber a bit after a good romp in the yard due to his floppy sharpei lips.

Timothy is an one to two year old male Beagle mix. He was brought into the shelter October 30.
