Meet Captain!

Captain is a beautiful fawn-and-white male who turned 12 years old in August. He is missing a few teeth, and is a little hard of hearing, but is otherwise in great shape.

He walks very well on a leash, has good potty habits and gets along well with other dogs. He is very sweet and affectionate and loves to give kisses and cuddle next to you wherever you are.

Captain is an overall quiet and mellow dog. He spends a lot of his day sleeping next to or near the person(s) he loves. He is nervous at first of new people and things, but he warms up to them after he gets to know his new surroundings and understands what to expect.

His hearing is somewhat limited because of his age, so occasionally he can be startled by things when he doesn't hear something coming, or when he hears a loud noise he isn't expecting. Captain does best in a household with an established routine where he won't be left alone for long periods of time.

We found Captain through Italian Greyhound IGCA Rescue Alaska in Anchorage, Alaska.

Meet Miley!

"Hello. My name is Miley and if you think you might like to share my life with me, there's something you need to know: I'm an extreme energy dog. My previous owners just couldn't give me the exercise I really need and I began to jump up on them in hopes of some action.

My favorite activity is ball fetching. I could just play all day long. But I bet with the right owner and focused training, I could make a wonderful working dog as well as a great family pet. So how about it? Are you ready for a home and work companion? I'm sure ready to be one!

By the way, Im spayed, microchipped, and current on all shotsall ready for a new home."
We found Miley through the Douglas Animal Welfare Group in Gardnerville, Nevada.

Mojave is a pretty dog. He has the markings of a German Shepherd, but only weighs about 40 pounds.

Mojave has learned to walk well on lead. He gets along with many, but not alll, other dogs. He is a bit dominant. He could easily be partnered with a female or submissive male. He was a bit shy with people when he arrived, but is getting over that.

Meet Crockett!

Crockett is a very bouncy, fun, clown of a dog. Belly rubs are a favorite and he loves to be picked up and cuddled. He gets along with some other dogs and likes cats all the ones with name badges!.

Crockett walks well on leash and enjoys walks in the country and around town but doesn't want to be petted by strangers. He loves being a buddy and hanging out with the guys. Crockett has a slightly crooked front leg (from birth) but it doesn't keep him from enjoying all kinds of companionable activities.

So far Crockett hasn't shown an interest in fetching, but loves a treat filled Kong toy or a tough chewy. He is crate trained, and comes with his own.

Crockett would do best with an experienced adopter. If not kept in check by a firm, but gentle hand, he has a tendency to want to take control of the household.

We found Crockett through Safe Haven Kennel in Yerington, Nevada.

Meet Wally!

We're turning it over to Wally today!!!

Hello, my name is Wally. I was adopted from this shelter 7 years ago when I was two years old, and now I'm back at the ripe "young" age of 9. Circumstances changed for my mom and she just couldn't keep me anymore. But I'm a very sweet boy who will make a great companion.
I'm housebroken, good on leash, like people, love to have my belly rubbed, and as you can see from my photos, I'm pretty darned cute with a wonderful smile. So don't pass me by just because I'm older. Like wine, I've improved with age.

Strap a doggie backpack on me and fill it up with water and food for the whole family; I will proudly carry it for miles.

I like other dogs and kids, but might be too active for little kids. I know how to sit and stay, and I love to play with rope toys, chew toys and bones.
