Clooney is a neutered male, Bassett/Terrier Mix. He's five years old, and weighs about 44.2 lbs.

Clooney absolutely loves everyone and every body, with loads of wiry hair. He also does well with other dogs and is housebroken.

Meet Millie!

Millie is approximately 3 years old. She is housetrained. She is shy, but friendly. She came to the shelter after one of her owners passed away and her family could no longer care for her.

Her family loved her very much and they are hoping that a loving family will adopt Millie. Oh and don't furget to pick up some save the date cards for that big welcome home pawty!

Meet Shiner!

Shiner is a one year old, medium-energy dog who settled in very quickly at his foster home. He has excellent canine social skills and he loves to play with other dogs, especially his best friend and foster brother Judd. Shiner enjoys going for walks and he loves hanging out with people too. He has good house manners and he’s in excellent health.

Like most Siberians, he’s very social, and he’ll need to go to a home where he’ll have at least one other dog as a playmate. Shiner will be a wonderful companion for an active person or family. Just be sure you check into some good snow tire chains before you head out to visit him!

Meet Butch and Sweet Pea!

Today we're turning it over to Butch!

"My name is Butch and I am a nine year-old male Jack Russell/Rat Terrier mix. My litter-mate, Sweet Pea, and I have fallen into an unfortunate situation as our owners have been forced to give us up.

We are currently living in a nice foster home, but can't stay there much longer. We are hoping now for a new 'forever' home! I am a little guy and weigh about 12 pounds so I don't take up a lot of space and don't eat a lot. I like being outside and going for walks but what I love most is attention, pets, and cuddles!

I don't much care for being left alone for extended periods, so I would like a home where someone is home most of the day. I am very friendly, love people and get along well with other dogs. I am neutered and crate-trained."

Tegan loves to play with toys, people and other dogs. Tegan is a friendly dog and she is working on her manners/ obedience.

Meet Spirit!

Beautiful Spirit came to Mariah's Promise from a kill shelter when she was six months old. She was adopted and in a home for four years, but was recently returned because she did not get along with the new female dog adopted by the family.

Horribly, when Spirit was returned she was skin and bones, new wounds and old wounds, and happy tail. (Dogs get this ailment by wagging their tails so much that the walls of the kennels split open the tips of their tails, causing infection in some cases and a bloody mess in most.)

Mariahs Promise tried to nurse the happy tail, but after three weeks her tail was still not healed, so the tip was clipped and has now healed wonderfully. Spirit has gained about 20 lbs. and now weighs in at 72 lbs!! Yeah! Now Spirit is ready for her new home!!!

Meet Billy!

Today we're turning it over to Billy!

"Hello there. My name is Billy and I am about 2 years old. Me and my 3 other canine friends were brought in as strays that were found living in the forest. HSCAZ took real good care of us and now were are all available for adoption!

Meet Clara!

Clara came to rescue from the West Valley Shelter while pregnant. She blessed the rescue with five beautiful babies on Memorial Day.

She is roughly two years old and they believe she is a beagle shepherd mix of some sort. She weighs between 30-40 pounds full grown. She is well socialized with other dogs of all sizes and would make a great companion!

Meet Tuon!

Tuon is a fun, energetic, loving dog. She has been with the same family almost her entire life. She does have anxiety, and does not do well with children. She is great with other dogs and cats.

Tuon needs a loving home that can keep up with her. She is housebroken and kennel trained. The most important thing to us is that she find a home where she will be loved and treated well.

Meet Titan!

Titan was surrendered to rescue disguised as a dog that had been adopted from our facility in the past. He was surrendered because the family was moving to a state that didn't allow his "breed."


Titan is a big bundle of fur equipped with an extra long tongue. He thoroughly enjoys the company of Chelsea, his play yard buddy.

Meet Hope!

Hope is the last pup from the hoarder case this rescue helped with. She is very independent and still needs lots of handling work. But she does use the doggie dog and will put herself in her crate.

She plays with the other dogs, but needs a strong dog to keep her in her place or she would make a great only dog. She does walk well on a leash.

"I'm a sweet little gentlman looking for a place where I can have someone all to myself. Well I guess I can share a mom or dad, but I don't want anybody to try and bully me around or take my food! Take me out for a walk so I can show you what a sweet guy I am!

I get very excited when I meet new people, my body just starts to wiggle all over! I enjoy a nice cushy bed and would love to spend time just cuddling! I'd be great for an apartment, and wouldn't mind living with someone who's single....afterall, I'm single too!"

Meet Lollie!

This adorable little girl is Lollie, a 4-year old Bichon Frise mix who weighs about 15 pounds. Lollie is very affectionate and playful without being hyper. She gets along great with other dogs and has a happy go lucky personality.

She is housetrained. Lollie would do best in a quiet home without small children. Our vet thinks that Lollie may have epilepsy so she takes phenobarbitol that costs about $10 per month. You'll want to pick up some altec lansing speakers because the good vibrations you'll get as Lollie beams up at you each day is priceless!

Meet Lilly!

Lilly is currently living in an apartment, stays home all day alone without incidence, but isn't getting enough exercise. She is house broken, good with cats, good with other dogs and friendly to strangers.

At four years old Lilly is still a young dog who would like to have a little bit more of an active life style, a playmate would be great, walking, hiking riding around in the car, but loves her down time. Lilly is not destructive or ill mannered and would make a lovely addition to any household.

Meet Napolean!

Napolean is super sweet with his people and little dogs. And is fine with cats, but not so good with bigger dogs. With his people, he will sneak into your lap and put his head on your shoulder.

He likes to go for walks and rides great in the car. He would be a great companion...just not with a bigger, furry brother or sister. Experience with terriers would be helpful and we would also like him to attend a training class.

Meet Rocco!

Rocco was residing at the Canyon County Animal Shelter which is very overcrowded. Rocco is one lucky boy to be selected to go to a foster home.

He was very excited when he arrived at his new foster home and spun circles in the living room. He is a 3 year old, 55lb male American Pit Bull Terrier.

Meet Kenny!

Kenny is friendly and sociable. He loves to go for hikes but is also happy just to hang out with his friends. Kenny is friendly with other dogs just as long as they dont try to mess with his toys!

Border Collies are very smart dogs who need mental stimulation as much as physical. True to his breed mix, Kenny has the potential to learn whatever you are willing to teach him! This is no couch potato dog -- he would love to be your hiking buddy.

Meet Todd!

Todd came to the shelter when he was just a youngster. He was just too energetic for his previous owners and they surrendered him.

Todd needs a person who is willing to patiently work with him. He is an outgoing and playful dog that enjoys going on very long walks and playing fetch. He is also housebroken. Todd needs a home without cats and would do best if he was the only dog. Todd would make a great agility dog.

Meet Rose!

Meet our favorite frizzle faced little girl - Rose! Mother of the R puppies, Rose was rescued from a rural Idaho shelter in terrible shape - starved, matted, and covered with infected sores from imbedded burrs - with 12, yes, 12, tiny puppies in tow.

The future for this darling little Bearded Collie (cousin of the Border Collie) and her litter was not looking bright, so WBCR stepped in to help. After a long battle to regain their health, the puppies are now all weaned and off to new homes - and it's Rose's turn to find a family to call her own!

Although she came into rescue a very shy and not very confident little lass, Rose has come a long way and is also feeling 200% better. After gaining some much-needed weight, she is now about 35 pounds. Rose has gained confidence too, and is proving to be a super bright and lively character, full of energy and curiosity.

Meet Choteau!

This past year has been a tough one for loyal Choteau. His owner passed away over a year ago and then his widow decided to move out almost 4 months ago and left Choteau (and his canine buddy Ozzy) at the house alone.

She did stop by once a day to feed them, but otherwise they were totally on their own for those many months. Once you meet this incredible dog, you will notice that he does not seem like he is eleven .

Choteau still acts like a pup! Words that come to mind when we describe this dog are "loyal", "devoted", "fun", "intelligent" and "special". Choteau loves his squeaky toys and carries them around with him wherever he goes ... you know exactly where he is as he wanders the yard .. "squeak-squeak-squeak-squeak"! He will throw it in the air and then pounce on it ... makes his rescuers hearts just melt.
