Meet Mesha!

"Hi, my name is Mesha, aka Princess Pea, because I am as sweet as can be! I have the most sunny disposition you will ever come across and a face that will melt your heart.

I am a very special girl that will need someone to help me with my very special needs. I came into rescue back in July and my rear legs were paralyzed from a parasite that attacked my spinal nerves which caused my legs to be very stiff and left me unable to use them. My foster Mom tried for several months with physical therapy to try and help me regain some use in my legs but because I was still growing and developing they were unable to help me.

My legs became deformed and caused a lot of pain for me since I still had some feeling left in them. The decision was made with the help of several Vets to amputate both rear legs and alleviate my pain. Thanks to several donors we were able to perform the surgery the end of November 2012. I am so much happier now without my legs that just got in my way and I don’t have that pain any longer. I still have some physical therapy to go through once I am a little better but I am excited to play again.

I am a very mellow sweet girl for a puppy and all that I have been through but I still like to chase cats when I get a chance. I think I may finally be able to catch them since I don’t have those legs any longer! I will probably never be fully potty trained because I have limited control from what happened to me but I try my best to hold it. My foster Mom says if you can stick to a schedule I am pretty good. I love my foster brother and sister right now and would love to have a playmate, probably best if it is a boy. I would really like a home where someone can be around most of the time so I don’t have any accidents and can be properly cared for. If you have the time and lots of patience and love for me then I am your girl and promise to give lots of sweet kisses."

We met Mesha through Moonsong Malamute Rescue in Heber City, UT.

I know some basic commands already and am very willing to learn some more if you are ready to spend the time to teach me.

I sit very nicely and will even lay down if you ask me to. Please come see me today, i am ready for my forever home!!!" Once you get Bella home, you'll want to pass out the cigars and cigar accessories in celebration of your new addition!

Meet Beezie!

Beezie is a beautiful Black Tri Aussie that has been trained and shown in Obedience and Agility, and she has earned titles in both.

For more information about Beezie, click here!

Meet KoKo!

Koko has the energy and stamina of a puppy, hard to believe she is 10 years old. Koko was turned into a local shelter by her owners after being a part of their family for her entire life.

We believe that Koko is a Kelpie mix, but whatever she is, she is as cute as can be with one big happy smile for everyone she meets, even chairs church people. Don’t let her age fool you – Koko may be 10 but she doesn’t know it, she has the energy and stamina of a 4 year old. Koko knows sit and stay, she’s been in the front yard with her foster parents and stays right with them while off leash.

She is not a barker, she is not a jumper but she does pull on the leash at first because of excitement. Oh, when she plays ball or Frisbee she will bring it right back and drop it so you can throw it again. She will play with you for hours, or will settle nicely in the house with you (she loves to sleep on the couch, but will stay off if you want her to). She is house trained, good with dogs, cats and kids. She loves to go for car rides but mostly she loves to play!

Come meet Sam! At six years old, this guy still has pep in his step, but he also enjoys the finer things in life like belly rubs, watching good flicks, and accompanying you on life's journey.

Sam is a true gem who loves attention, has good manners and is very eager to please. He gets along well with other dogs, but seems a bit too interested in cats to safely share a home with one. He appears to be housebroken and ready to move right in. Sam is a lovely, handsome and loyal boy who deserves to find a new home and owners who will be committed to him for his lifetime.

We found Sam through Animal Shelter of Wood River Valley in Hailey, ID.

Meet Vanilla!

"I am a very intelligent, high energy dog that needs activity in my life. My obedience skills are good and I am very willing to learn more.

I am a lot of dog in a small package. I would not be the best selection for small children. I am working on my resource guarding. Raw-hides can be a high drive treat for me. I do not want to share them! The folks at the shelter are teaching me to swap one raw-hide for another. I am enjoying this new game. Once you learn the game, we will have fun learning to share together. I have been micro-chipped and spayed."

We found Vanilla through Heartland Pet Connection in Hastings, NE.

Meet Lacey!

Lacey is about 6 years old and weighs around 50 pounds. She was extremely skinny when she came to us after being found tied to a tree on the walking trail. She improved physically and warmed up quickly to everyone at the shelter and has been a real charmer.

Karson seems to get along with other dogs and has a nice disposition. He is settling into a foster home where they will work with him and get to know his personality. Karson has a very expressive face as you can see by the photos and he looks really happy that he is going to be ready to make someone a great family pet.

All of his medical work is completed including, neutering, shots, worming, flea treatment, bordetella and vet exam. He's so cute, you will definitely want to look into eon code for printing up those pawsome shots of Karson!

Meet Teddy!

Teddy is an adult male Shih-Tzu who came into rescue after some negative experiences with kids and is seeking a home with adults or older children. This sweet little marshmallow of a dog is so desperate for someone to love, and someone to love him back.

He is such a great little dog: housetrained, not a chewer, low key and just works his hardest to do what's asked of him. Teddy would love an adult home or a home with older kids, someone to walk him and love him and be soft with him. He is a quieter dog by nature and wants a similar personality home. Teddy has been spayed/neutered, vaccinated, tested for heartworm disease, and dewormed.

Meet Franklin!

Hi, I'm Franklin! Even though my estimated birthdate is only March, 2010, I've been all over the country and have some pretty crazy stories to tell about it, too! I originally lived in Texas with some people who stole a car and were eventually caught and arrested. I ended up being in the custody of Savannah, GA Animal Control who brought me to a shelter where I could find a new home because my owners are going to be in jail for a verrrry long time!

The shelters in Savannah are pretty crowded, so I was flown up to Happily Ever After in Wisconsin in March, 2012! Now my biggest trip is from Marion to Green Bay and back to meet potential adopters...and I couldn't be more thankful for the light travel schedule! I'm a wonderful dog who can be super-snuggly or super-playful whenever you want! If there's an empty lap around, I'm guaranteed to be in it!

We found Franklin through Happily Ever After Animal Sanctuary Inc., Marion, WI.

Meet Rosie!

Rosie is an energetic young Cattle dog. She was surrendered by her owner for herding cattle without permission. She is a very typical, smart, loving, high energy puppy. She is approximately 6 months and 25 pounds. Rosie is dominant over her brother, Bear.

She is a highly trainable, agile pup that would excel in agility. Rosie would like an active family that can teach her fun things and give her lots of love. Rosie is spayed, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, microchipped and treated for parasites with Frontline Plus Dogs 23-44 lbs - Flea & Tick Care (Google Affiliate Ad).

We found Rosie through A Little House Rescue, St Cloud, MN.

Meet Maloney!

Maloney is a younger beautiful schnauzer. He is very shy and you can tell he wasn’t socialized very well. Maloney is still very sweet though and he wouldn't hurt a fly.

He is good with other dogs, cats and kids that understand he will be scared at first. One thing to watch out for with this boy is he knows how to climb chain link fences, so he can’t be trusted enclosed in one alone. Maloney does well with his potty training and he is used to being kenneled when left alone.

We found Maloney through Arrow's Heart Animal Rescue, Zimmerman, MN.

For more information about Maloney, click here!

Meet JoJo!

Jojo was transferred to our organization from a rescue, so we don't know much about his background. He has gone to a satellite adoption event at a pet store, and he loved everyone he met including the dogs that visited.

We found JoJo through Humane Society of Waupaca County, Waupaca, WI.

We found Jake through H.E.L.P Shelter Dog Rescue, Waupaca, WI.

Meet Colt!

Meet Colt, he should be ready for adoption in about 10-14 days. He is just a little over a year old. Although he is already a very tall boy is still very puppy like and loves his toys.

Update on our big baby boy Colt: His rescuers have gotten to know and love this big guy and now we can fill in his potential forever family. Colt is only 14 months old and a very huge boy. He weighs 137 however for his size should be more like 150-155.

His rescuers have taken him to the vet and the news wasn't exactly what they would like to hear...Colt has bad hips. For now, the course of treatment is medication and laser therapy. Although, at some point in his life he will likely need hip replacement. At the very least he will need FHO surgery.

The wading pools and frequent dips added fun to playing and social interaction with other APAW puppies and dogs during the warmer months.

Learning to share and "play nice" are just part of fun-filled days. Lightning, thunder, rain....who cares! Toys and plenty of rawhide are available 24/7.

We found Marty through APAW Animal Placement Agency of the Windsors, West Windsor, New Jersey.

Happy Halloween!!!

We hope everyone has a super Happy Halloween, be safe with your pups, some pups get kind of scared with all the activity!

Be sure they are leashed up or safe from escaping open doors, keep the human sweets away, make sure your pups have a good secure collar with an id tag in place (maybe even look into a for blank labels, BOL!) and only dress up your pet if they are 'into it,' dressing up can be scary for some pups!

And above all, make it fun!

Meet Milo!

Milo is a  two and a half year old Rat Terrier, that was found as a stray and brought to a local shelter. He was very thin and was understandably scared to be there.

He has been in a foster home for a while now, and has since gained some weight and has started to come out of his shell; even playing with the other dogs in the house and restling with them over the toys. He loves to be with his people, snuggle on your lap and go for walks. Pretty soon you're gonna need to take a look at to get that patio and fenced in back yard together to keep Milo safe!

We found Luke through Shiawassee Humane Society, Owosso, MI.

Meet Pogo!

Pogo is a one year old Hound mix. He has grown up in the shelter, so he needs a home that will be patient with him while he learns his house manners.

Meet Yeti!

"My name is Yeti. I am little but I am MIGHTY! Mighty cute that is!

I am a bit on the timid side when I first meet someone and I might prefer men over women but really I just like everyone. Even older kids. Toddlers I am not so sure about. They might squish me! Anyway, I like little dogs, big dogs and in between dogs. Those strange dogs that they call cats too.

I sleep in a crate at night but it would be more fun sleeping with my people.I like to play but I also like to watch TV and read books with my people and sit on the back of your chair and read over your shoulder! I will bark with the other dogs and maybe a bit when I am first left alone but that's just to make you feel bad so maybe you'll come back for me. But if you don't, I'll get over it pretty quickly. I just want to make you feel special."

We think Yeti will be so much fun that you're gonna want to put on the surround sound, turn up the volume, cushion it with cheap auralex gear, and get down and celebrate!

We found Yeti through Perry County PA Animal Rescue, Millerstown, PA.

Meet Aye Aye!

Aye Aye is such a cute little girl. A puppy at heart and soul. She is a bit clumsy as she has not grown into her legs/feet as of yet! Sadly who ever she belonged to before she came here did not work with this dog and therefore she has no manners.

Energy, she has no clue what to do with. She is in need of an owner who is willing to put the needed time and patience into this dog to help her be a better dog. She jumps, play nips and has out of control behavior that is no fault of her own.

Once she has the chance to have her "work out" she will calm down and give you a sit. She will sit for a treat also most of the time. Aye Aye needs practice on the leash. A short leash is best for her as she has a habit of circling you and wrapping you up!

We found Aye Aye through Perry County PA Animal Rescue, Millerstown, PA.

Meet Little Max!

If sunshine, light and the best welcome home you've ever received is what you need, then look no further, Max is your boy.

He is a 22 lbs, 5 year old, a Spitz/Chihuahua mix that is one of the friendliest little guys you'll ever meet. He was abandoned in a house with 3 other dogs and luckily a neighbor reported hearing them barking.

Max would prefer to sleep in or beside your bed and he is a very sensitive boy, so if he must be crated he would prefer to be right beside your bed. He cries real tears when left alone, we would imagine that being abandoned could do that to a dog. He is crate trained and does fairly well on leash. He does have a small issue when meeting new dogs, as do many Terriers, but he is very easily corrected and when introduced gently he does very well.

We found Max through Critter Cavalry Rescue New England in Coventry, Rhode Island.

Meet Reny!

Reny is a very sweet 6 month old mixed puppy. She and her brother, Moe were found abandoned in a trailer park, now they are both resting comfortably in foster homes waiting for their forever homes.

She is about 35 lbs and should be in the 50-60ish lb range when fully grown. We believe she is some sort of boxer/hound mix although her face looks a lot like a Jack Russell eventhough she's much bigger than a normal Jack Russell. For all intensive purposes she's a very sweet mutt.

She is potty trained, perfect on a leash and working hard on her crate training. She is perfect with other dogs, cats and kids. And we're sure you'll want to cuddle up with the heat of the infrared space heater with this one, come this Winter!
