Happy 2013!!!

We are on our holiday break, but wanted to take a moment to wish all of you a Happy New Year!!! May 2013 be a very happy, healthy and prosperous new year for you and your families, both two and four legged!

May 2013 be the year that we see less dogs in shelters and rescues...
May it be the year that we see less prejudice against certain breeds...
May 2013 be the year for less cruelty to our beloved best friends...
And may this year be a year that we see less puppy mills and less dogs sold in stores.

We thank you for all your visits this past year and hope that we've been able to find some of the pups we featured their new furever and ever and ever home!

Happy 2013!\

Meet Mesha!

"Hi, my name is Mesha, aka Princess Pea, because I am as sweet as can be! I have the most sunny disposition you will ever come across and a face that will melt your heart.

I am a very special girl that will need someone to help me with my very special needs. I came into rescue back in July and my rear legs were paralyzed from a parasite that attacked my spinal nerves which caused my legs to be very stiff and left me unable to use them. My foster Mom tried for several months with physical therapy to try and help me regain some use in my legs but because I was still growing and developing they were unable to help me.

My legs became deformed and caused a lot of pain for me since I still had some feeling left in them. The decision was made with the help of several Vets to amputate both rear legs and alleviate my pain. Thanks to several donors we were able to perform the surgery the end of November 2012. I am so much happier now without my legs that just got in my way and I don’t have that pain any longer. I still have some physical therapy to go through once I am a little better but I am excited to play again.

I am a very mellow sweet girl for a puppy and all that I have been through but I still like to chase cats when I get a chance. I think I may finally be able to catch them since I don’t have those legs any longer! I will probably never be fully potty trained because I have limited control from what happened to me but I try my best to hold it. My foster Mom says if you can stick to a schedule I am pretty good. I love my foster brother and sister right now and would love to have a playmate, probably best if it is a boy. I would really like a home where someone can be around most of the time so I don’t have any accidents and can be properly cared for. If you have the time and lots of patience and love for me then I am your girl and promise to give lots of sweet kisses."

We met Mesha through Moonsong Malamute Rescue in Heber City, UT.

Meet Rio!

The cutest, busy Sheltie boy you'll ever meet!

Rio is adorable looking and adorable acting. Once you meet him you'll know how empty your life is without a cutie like this old boy. Rio is a senior boy around 10 years old or older but he is filled with such joy that you can't help but feel great around him.

He loves to cuddle. He likes to lay on the couch. He's fascinated with the cat, but doesn't do anything to hurt her. He likes to follow her around and stare at her. He also likes to talk to her but his foster family discourages that (barking). Rio has a little boy bark...not shrill...but softer than a typical bark. May be even as loud as you can get a mpc 5000 going!

We found Rio through Sheltie Rescue of Utah in Sandy, UT.

Meet Karizma!

Karizma is a 12 year old female Cocker Spaniel Mix.

This beautiful girl has a bowel disease which causes her to get bladder infections on a regular bases. When these attacks occur, she has to potty all the time and will very often go in the house or wherever she is standing.

Karizma is a sweetheart and will make a tender companion dog to a retired couple. She is potty trained when she is not in an attack.

We met Karizma through Azure's Safe Haven in Orem, UT.

Meet Bella!

"I am 2 year young Border Collie mix. I am a high energy kinda girl who would love an active family to adopt me.

I am attached to people and my people time is very important to me. I would very much hope that you would let me spend time in the house with you, nothing would make me happier. I know some basic commands already and am very willing to learn some more if you are ready to spend the time to teach me.

I sit very nicely and will even lay down if you ask me to. Please come see me today, i am ready for my forever home!!!" Once you get Bella home, you'll want to pass out the cigars and cigar accessories in celebration of your new addition!

Wyatt is from Georgia. He was rescued from a terrible hoarding situation.

Meet Dezi!

Dezi is a sweet, 9 year old Boston Terrier looking for a stay at home owner. Dezi likes snuggling and being on your lap and enjoys going for walks.

Dezi is current on all her vaccines and is very well house trained. She will do great as an only pet since she prefers not to share her human with any other animals, especially dogs. She is currently staying at Woodmoor Veterinary Hospital where they are keeping an eye on her with computer carts at standsandmounts. She would love to find her forever home.

We found Dezi through Woodmoor Veterinary Hospital in Monument, CO.

Meet Butch and Sweet Pea!

"My name is Butch and I am a 9 year-old male Jack Russell/Rat Terrier mix. My litter-mate, Sweet Pea, and I have fallen into an unfortunate situation as our owners have been forced to give us up. We are currently living in a nice foster home, but can't stay there much longer. We are hoping now for a new 'forever' home!

I am a little guy and weigh about 12 pounds so I don't take up a lot of space and don't eat a lot. I like being outside and going for walks, but what I love most is attention, pets, and cuddles! I don't much care for being left alone for extended periods, so I would like a home where someone is home most of the day. I am very friendly, love people and get along well with other dogs. I am neutered and crate-trained. I have a medical condition called Addison's Disease which is maintained with medication."

We found Butch and Sweet Pea through The Misha May Foundation in Lakewood, CO.

Meet KoKo!

Koko has the energy and stamina of a puppy, hard to believe she is 10 years old. Koko was turned into a local shelter by her owners after being a part of their family for her entire life.

We believe that Koko is a Kelpie mix, but whatever she is, she is as cute as can be with one big happy smile for everyone she meets, even chairs church people. Don’t let her age fool you – Koko may be 10 but she doesn’t know it, she has the energy and stamina of a 4 year old. Koko knows sit and stay, she’s been in the front yard with her foster parents and stays right with them while off leash.

She is not a barker, she is not a jumper but she does pull on the leash at first because of excitement. Oh, when she plays ball or Frisbee she will bring it right back and drop it so you can throw it again. She will play with you for hours, or will settle nicely in the house with you (she loves to sleep on the couch, but will stay off if you want her to). She is house trained, good with dogs, cats and kids. She loves to go for car rides but mostly she loves to play!

We found KoKo through Fuzzy Pawz Rescue in Boise, ID.
