Meet Del Monty!
Too much dog? Del Monty isn't sure that's an insult! But it's the reason his family left him at an animal shelter. He's been sad and waiting for a new family ever since.
He's only two years old, a Labrador Retriever, and completely healthy. He's terrific with kids! And he's just fine with other dogs, too. Strangely, even though he's young, he has a teeny bit of a hip problem and takes a little medication for it. But he promises it's not much trouble. He's active, fun, and oh-so-loveable. A little basic obedience training might help his manners a tad.
He just needs a family who'll love him for the rest of his life! And while he's waiting, he'd be so, so happy if you sponsored him.
We found Del Monty currently living at the Best Friends Animal Society's DogTown in Utah. The mission of Best Friends is driven by the simple philosophy that kindness to animals helps build a better world for all of us. And the work of Best Friends is supported entirely through the donations of members and supporters. Through the generous hearts and hands of people like you, they can ensure that animals who come into the care of Best Friends will never again be alone, hungry, sick, afraid, or in pain.

Meet Jethro and help Eleventh Hour Rescue win a $50,000 grant!
Jethro is a young Labrador Retriever mix currently being cared for by the folks at Eleventh Hour Rescue, in Rockaway, New Jersey. Jethro is a playful pup, with lots of new things to learn and discover.
Click here to watch Jethro's video, and find out more about him.
Eleventh Hour Rescue is a volunteer based, non profit, 501c3 organization that literally saves dogs from death row. They do not currently have a shelter and rely on the generosity of their volunteers to provide loving foster homes for dogs pulled from death row in high-kill shelters.
The organization is once again participating in a challenge being offered through Kevin Bacon's SixDegrees.org, partnering with the Case Foundation and Parade on America's Giving Challenge. The eight charity badges that have the most unique donors through the America's Giving Challenge will receive $50,000 for their cause.
They are entered in this contest for their rescue and need the help of each and every one of you. The Challenge ends on January 31, 2008 at 3:00 pm eastern time so please hurry!
Click here to watch their video. Donations are tax deductible and all they are asking for is a $10 donation made thru their charity badge below to have a chance at this $50,000 grant!
It is not the organization with the most money in donations that wins but the organization that has the highest number of unique donors. So every donor counts!

Meet Pepper!
Pepper weighs 46 lbs. She has recently been fostered and is housebroken when taken out frequently enough. At home she will stay close to you and seldom barks, maybe once or twice if there is a good reason, and will immediately stop when asked.
She is an excellent companion in car rides and loves to play ball or frisbee. She'll make sure you get the toy back! Pepper is calm at home and does not touch your things but she does need good time out and play time. Pepper does not beg for food, but of course she likes to have a share of your food after you are done eating, and she
does not jump on sofas.
She is good with dogs, kids and ladies she meets in the neighborhood but may need a little time to warm up to men. Pepper is a really nice companion if you can provide her with the outdoor/playtime needed. She may turn out to be good in agility if you are into that great sport!
We found Pepper currently being cared for by the Northern Chautauqua Canine Rescue, Inc., in Westfield, NY. They are a non-profit rescue group formed to help the neediest dogs and puppies in our area -- the strays, the orphaned, the abandoned.

Meet Mags!
Mags is a terrier mix with an abundance of good looks and personality! She was born just one year ago and is housebroken, crate trained and spayed.
She's having a great time in her foster home, going for runs with her humans and playing her heart out with the dogs. Like most year old terriers, Mags loves to play, and at 30lbs she's a good size for big or little dogs. She is not one to automatically submit to other dogs, so it may take a little while for her to find her place, but once she does she mixes well with a group.
Mags always mixes beautifully with humans though! She is learning manners right now and is picking up commands very quickly. She knows 'sit' and 'down' already and is learning to come to her name reliably. Maggie is great on a leash and will walk as far as you want to take her. If you are looking for a fun-loving dog who's eager to learn and to please, Mags is the girl for you!
We found Mags currently being cared for by Athens Canine Rescue in Athens, Georgia. They are a volunteer network of foster homes rescuing strays and placing them in forever homes.

Meet Ryder!
Ryder is a Chihuahua/Cavalier Spaniel Mix, about two years old.
He is a such a sweetheart, definitely very loyal and loving. He's pretty much attached to his foster mom's heels. If she goes anywhere, like from the couch to the TV, he follows.
Ryder rides well in the car - just taking in the sights. He loves to give kisses and, not unlike most dogs, loves to be petted. Ryder needs a patient, loving home with someone who understands, and can help him with his separation issues. Ideally another dog in the household would be great to help him feel comfortable while you are way. He has a lot to give to his forever family, is that you?!
We found Ryder currently being cared for by R.E.S.C.U.E in Phoenix, Arizona. Since 1995, they have operated with the philosophy that for every animal they place they will go back to rescue another facing an untimely death. To date, they have fulfilled that promise over 9,000 times.

Meet Bozo!
When Bozo first arrived in foster care he was very afraid of strangers and did not want to come out of his dog house. But after a few days, he decided that is was okay and now he can't wait to go to the exercise pen and play and run and get his petting and attention.
Bozo will be a year old in November and he is now one of the friendliest and most loving dogs you will ever meet. This is the type of dog that is one of the best for a family - he is a boxer mix and not too large, weighing about 55 pounds. And he is a very happy dog now.
He is learning to play and will chase a ball or toy and will sometimes even bring it back to you! Bozo is neutered and has had his shots, so he is ready for a good home with kids and lots of activity. He is also housebroken, and will not mess in his kennel. Great dog for a family, and he is one of the favorites in foster care.
Bozo is currently being cared for through a foster family associated with Angels for Animals in Southwest Utah. They are a small group of volunteers who rescue, foster and find homes for adoptable animals.

Meet Bill!
Bill is a 6-7 year old schnauzer, neutered and UTD on shots and recently had a dental cleaning.
He is an energetic and loving schnauzer, who is very smart and loves attention. Bill likes to play with the other dogs in foster care, but he does chase cats! He spends his time running and playing in his foster Mom's fenced back yard. Bill is crated at night and does well with crate training. He would love to be adopted by an active family with children over 8 years old.
Bill is currently being cared for by Almost Home Canine Rescue, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. They are dedicated to finding the best possible home for all the pets in their care. And they help each adoptive family find the newest member of the family that best meets the family's and the pet's needs and life style.

Meet Perry!
Perry is part of a litter from a farm with too many dogs. He was born about 7/14/07 and is now 8 weeks old and ready to find himself a home able to give him some attention.
These fuzzy pups are an unknown mix that seem to grow to about 55 pounds. Grandmother appears to be a white husky. The rest of the dogs are long haired shades of white, cream, and light gold. Perry is white but stands out because his nose is more pink than black.
Perry is currently being cared for by Swiss Friends of Animals, Inc., in Patriot, Indiana. Swiss Friends of Animals receives funds from the local United Fund to help county residents have their cats and small dogs spayed or neutered. This funding supplements a national grant for spaying or neutering large dogs (45 pounds and over). Together, both funding sources provide a beneficial program for residents of Switzerland County, helping to control unwanted litters of puppies and kittens, which result in the stray and abandoned animal problem.

Meet Mylie!
Mylie is a Labrador/Terrier Mix, born on 6/14/2005. She's a sweet 34 lbs. girl waiting for her forever home. She is good with children, maybe with other dogs, but isn't so good with cats.
Mylie is such an interesting character with her wild terrier hair style and white marking on her muzzle and chest. Mylie is very amusing. She loves being with people and is looking to become a loyal companion who will thrive in a home. The amazing Mylie knows how to sit, shake, and lie down already! She can't wait to meet her new forever family!
We met Mylie through the Arizona Animal Welfare League in Phoenix, Arizona. Founded in 1971, The Arizona Animal Welfare League and SPCA is the state's oldest and largest no-kill shelter. Meet Bella!
Bella is a beautiful 1-year-old basset hound with lots of energy and lots of love. She is as sweet as she is lovely. Bella is sure to melt your heart.
Bella loves to wrestle with people on the floor and run and play with other dogs. She has lots of energy and would do great in a home with kids or other dogs. Her playful nature makes her a joy to have around.
Bella may have a lot of energy, but she calms down quite easily. This girl loves to curl up in your lap and get lots of ear and belly rubs. She is sure to always get her afternoon nap and is careful to take her nap near you. (Should you decide to give out some spontaneous belly rubs.) At night, Bella will cuddle close on the bed. And if that’s not your cup of tea, she is just as happy with a soft blanket or a doggie bed on the floor.
Bella was a stray, so she is still learning basic commands. She is not quite house-trained, yet, but she is doing very well. Bella is a very smart dog and she is eager to please. Obedience is not a problem with her.
If you’re looking for a young basset with lots of energy and lots of love to give, Bella is the girl for you.

Meet Freckles!
Freckles is a 2.5 year old pointer mix and 35 pounds of energy and love. She will require an active lifestyle, perhaps as an agility, frisbee, or running companion. Freckles is currently in obedience training and is responding with the routine.
She is quite trainable, but needs time to settle down around new surroundings, good with other dogs, but will chase cats and other animals. Freckles would work best in a family (whatever size) with a fenced yard, where she could run and play frequently. She is very affectionate and rides well in the car. Freckles is looking for her forever home--will it be yours?
We found Freckles currently being cared for by Starfish Pet Rescue and Adoption Center in Florida. Starfish Pet Rescue evolved as a means to help at least a few dogs find their talents in life, whether it be as an agility dog, disc dog, therapy dog, and, in all cases, beloved friend.

Meet Milo, Duke IV, and Silky!
Milo, Duke IV and Silky are all Bichons, ages 5, 11 and 7 years old.
Milo, the fantastic little guy on the left! Aren't they the best looking trio? They are a bit sad right now because their owner passed away, but they're also very optimistic that they will find wonderful new homes.
Duke is Milo's father, and Silky is Milo's mother. They've been together a long time and would like to stay that way. However, they do understand that adopting 3 dogs is a lot to ask of one person or family. They are willing to part as long as they all go to excellent and loving homes!
All three adore children, dogs, and even cats. They are all house-broken, house-trained, healthy, and low-maintenance. They just want to be loved and appreciated.
Their former human Daddy was so kind to them, and he raised them up right! They are beyond precious.
We found these three currently being cared for by Max Fund, in Denver. Colorado. The MaxFund is a non-profit organization that was established in May of 1988 to provide medical care for injured pets with no known owners, and to seek out new homes for these animals once they have recovered. The MaxFund is a no-kill dog and cat shelter. MaxFund assists hundreds of people and animals each year by trying to make the correct match between owner and pet. MaxFund adopts our animals to Colorado residents only.

Meet Sugar!
Sugar is a Cattle Dog mix of 2 years old. She is housebroken and would do well around older children (8+ years or older). She weighs about 50 pounds. Sugar has one request and that is that she be the "only" 4-legged companion in the home as she doesn't like to share the attention.
She loves to snuggle on the couch with you and probably in your bed as well. A fenced yard is required. Sugar I recently went and did a "School Visit" and was so sweet and great with all of the kids!
We found Sugar currently being cared for by Pet Refuge in Mishawaka, Indiana. Pet Refuge is a not-for-profit "no-kill" animal shelter run by volunteers for the placement of unwanted and abandoned pets into responsible permanent homes.
